Got a ring from someone claiming to be “BT Open Reach” with a thick Indian accent, saying my internet had been running slow recently. I told them I wasn’t gonna switch off my router or anything because it’s always sluggish anyway, then just ended the call - seems like one of those scams that's been going about for ages. Funny thing, right after, I checked my internet speed and it was actually way better than usual, hitting 2.5 mbps instead of the usual 1.2 in our terrible coverage spot. :(

Got a ring from this number claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying there was a fault with my router and I had to turn my laptop off. The bloke spoke with a heavy Indian accent, and honestly, it was hard to catch what he was saying. I asked him to send the details by email instead. Unsurprisingly, I never got any email from them!

Got a call from someone claiming to be John Wilson, speaking with a really thick Indian accent. He gave me a BT reference number and kept telling me BT would send something in writing after the call. Funny enough, my landline does have some on and off issues. Then he asked me to turn on my computer, and that’s when I just hung up. The caller ID showed 01293401696, but a quick Google shows it belongs to a DVD service company. Bit fishy if you ask me.

I got a call from someone called Steven, claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying there was an issue with my router. They asked me to prove I’m not a robot by clicking on pictures of buses, bridges and shops - but honestly, those image tests are rubbish and nearly impossible to pass. I’m planning on trying the verification again because until I do, I can’t file the scam report. I wonder how many others just give up halfway and never report these dodgy calls?
