Residents Report Concerns Over Persistent Calls from 01214680239

In recent weeks, numerous individuals have taken to a popular online platform to voice their frustrations and concerns about unsolicited phone calls from the number 01214680239. Many of these reports suggest that the calls are linked to energy-related scams, causing distress among those receiving them.

A Surge of Complaints

Since early April, complaints have been mounting, with many citizens sharing their experiences of repeated calls. A common scenario involves callers identifying themselves as representatives from an "energy advice centre." Some recipients noted that the callers often mispronounced or misidentified their personal details, including names and previous addresses, raising red flags about the authenticity of these conversations.

One caller, who received a call on 16th April, expressed suspicion after the individual on the other end abruptly hung up when questioned about their legitimacy. A different report from 12th April detailed a similar experience, where a caller from an energy company provided an incorrect postcode and face immediate disconnection once the recipient chose not to answer any questions.

The Automation Factor

Many users have reported experiencing automated calls. One anonymous commentator reported, "[It] didn’t start until I said hello," only to lose connection shortly after. With automated messages seemingly taking a forefront in these calls, frustration is palpable among many who feel their privacy is being invaded without their consent.

A number of people reported receiving silent calls, where no one speaks upon answering, leaving recipients feeling unnerved. These silent calls further contribute to the atmosphere of suspicion surrounding the number.

Misleading Claims and Personal Data

Several recipients of calls from 01214680239 highlighted a pattern where callers appeared to possess some personal information. Comments noted that the caller knew recipients' names and previous addresses, which escalated concerns about data protection and privacy breaches. One individual recounted how they were told they were eligible for government energy grants, only to later discover that the caller was not associated with any official government entity.

In a concerning trend, many recipients described the calls as intricate scams designed to disturb their peace. One feedback stated, "A genuine company wouldn’t have" hung up after being questioned, pointing to an unsettling atmosphere shrouded in uncertainty.

Alarm Over Ongoing Harassment

Throughout the comments, the feeling of being harassed was prevalent. Many individuals chose to block the number after receiving repeated calls, but that hasn’t stopped some from expressing their ire over having to deal with such disturbances on a daily basis. As the situation escalates, one person lamented, "If I had a pound for every hoax call that I receive, I would be very rich."

Despite their best efforts to avoid these calls, many residents find themselves on the receiving end yet again, prompting fears that they may never be able to escape this torment.

Public Call for Action

As the pattern emerges, there are calls from the public for a more robust response to these ongoing issues. Some have even registered complaints with the Telephone Preference Service, emphasising that their numbers are legally protected from unsolicited marketing calls.

One comment from a distressed resident captured multiple sentiments perfectly, "Is anybody doing anything about these scammers?" There seems to be a general agreement among callers that urgent action is needed to put an end to the activities of those behind the number 01214680239.

Conclusion

The complaints regarding 01214680239 exemplify a wider issue faced by many concerning unsolicited and potentially fraudulent calls. They reflect a growing frustration as citizens navigate an environment where privacy and peace of mind are under siege. As awareness spreads, it is hoped that authorities will take notice and act to protect the public from these disturbances, allowing residents to reclaim their silent sanctuaries.

For now, however, vigilance remains key as many continue to share their stories and warn others to be cautious of calls from unknown numbers, particularly those emerging from 01214680239.

I wasn't quick enough to answer the phone when it rang. When I tried to return the call, it disconnected before I had a chance to chat with anyone.

They didn’t bother to leave a voicemail, and I’ve now blocked the number after seeing what others have said.

I received a call from a chap claiming to represent an energy firm, and he provided me with a postcode that, quite frankly, has nothing to do with me. It was utterly incorrect! I made it clear that I wasn't going to entertain any of his inquiries, so I promptly ended the call. This was the second such call I’ve had today, so they’re now firmly blocked!

This number isn’t coming up as valid, and they didn’t pick up when I called. No voicemail had been left either. Seems like spam to me!

They had my last name and my mobile phone number. They claimed to represent some sort of 'energy advice centre' and reassured me that they weren’t selling anything, merely wanting to inform me about available Government grants. Curious, I inquired if they were acting on behalf of the Government, to which they responded negatively. They insisted they were an independent entity. I pondered out loud, if you’re not affiliated with the Government and aren’t peddling services, how do you generate income? Suddenly, the line went dead. Seems rather dodgy to me.

They seemed to know my name, which was rather off-putting. It was a call from some energy advisory centre. When I asked them if they were actually trying to sell me anything, they assured me they weren't, but as soon as I probed about how they finance themselves, they abruptly ended the call. A reputable company wouldn't react that way, would they?

I didn’t answer the call when it came through, as I tend to steer clear of numbers I don’t recognise.

A lovely woman was on the line, inquiring for a person I don't recognise. I politely informed her that she had misdialled, and after exchanging a few pleasantries, we wished each other well before hanging up.

I received a call from this number, and to my surprise, they already had my name. They started asking whether I was eligible for some sort of government energy grants or similar. To top it off, they even mentioned my previous address, which I promptly corrected them on. As soon as I clarified that, they simply cut the call. I certainly wouldn't recommend trusting this number at all.

I received a call from them with some outdated details. They had my surname and the postcode of a place I used to inhabit. Initially, they assured me they weren't trying to peddle anything, but then quickly shifted their tune, claiming they wanted to see if I qualified for some government funding related to green energy. However, as soon as they discovered I no longer owned the property in question, they abruptly ended the conversation. Quite the strange encounter, really!
