Just received a call from this number a quarter of an hour ago. I picked up, and a chap with a distinct Indian accent started rambling on like he was in a race! I had to ask him three times what he was on about before I finally understood he was probing me about some car 'accident' from three years back. Quite frankly, I've never had an accident, whether three years ago or even three days ago! I told him to get lost and quit harassing folks. He abruptly hung up after that. I looked up the number, dialled it myself, and left it ringing for a full minute-no answer at all! Is there any way to put a stop to these persistent nuisances?

I've received a few calls from this number, but I chose not to pick up since I have no idea who's on the other end.

Should you find yourself answering a similar call, as I foolishly did, my recommendation is to hang up the moment you discern that rapid-fire, non-native accent. I recall an ex-colleague of mine-bless her memory-who had a rather amusing tactic for these types of nuisance calls; she’d keep a whistle handy near her phone and would unleash an ear-piercing blast whenever one of those persistent callers attempted to engage her. I can only imagine the poor chap on the other end was left reeling!
