The caller, who seemed like many other Indians, was clearly trying to scam me, so I started talking in a daft voice just to confuse him. He shot back with, "f### you motherf###er". They barely get English right but sure know their insults! Keeps ringing all the time but hangs up straight away when you pick up, so it's obv an auto dialler from some call centre. Seen loads of folks moaning about the TPS here. Thing is, the TPS can't touch calls from overseas centres that just pretend to be from UK numbers. They only deal with legit UK businesses making cold calls. These dodgy scam calls are just out of their hands.

Got a call super early and it woke me right up. When I picked up, no one said anything, but I could hear loads of noise in the background. The number showed up as coming from overseas.

I hardly ever answer my landline these days; instead, I just dial 1471 afterwards for free to check if the number looks familiar. My phone and broadband package includes unlimited daytime calls, so I’m happy to ring back mates on their landline. If I do pick up and it's clearly a scam, I just let the receiver hang off the hook while the call stays connected for as long as I feel like it. It ties up their line so they can't bother anyone else for a bit, and might even hit their earnings, which could make them think twice about their choice of work!

I keep getting calls on my home phone pretty early and through the day, claiming they're from BT. I'm disabled and live by myself, so it’s quite unsettling, especially since my internet and phone signal seem to drop when they ring. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but my neighbour’s phone works fine without any issues. Last time the caller sounded like it was coming from some Indian call centre and they even said my name, which freaked me out a lot. I haven’t a clue how to block the number on my Virgin line.

This was another one of those classic scams. I played along for a good while, but she eventually caught on. Not bothered about sounding politically correct, so here it goes - the accent was definitely from somewhere like SE Asia, India or Pakistan. The number showed a Birmingham code, so you can figure it out. It's shocking to me that with all the complaints out there, neither BT nor the police seem to have a clue where this Birmingham landline actually is or why they haven’t tracked down these dodgy scammers yet.

This bloke claimed he was from BT and said they had cracking discounts, but that’s a dead giveaway it’s a con because BT never do crazy offers like 30% off! Also, the reason you don’t seem to get anyone when you pick up is probably because it’s an automated system ringing you. If a real person can take your call, you get through; if not, the call just cuts out. My bet is it’s just some rival phone company in the end trying to push their deals on you.
