Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying he was from BT. Turns out he was just pretending. Watch out for this one!

I got a call from a bloke saying he was with BT, but it sounded dodgy as anything so I just ended the call straight away. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from a guy with a strong Asian accent claiming he was from BT, telling me our internet was going to be down tomorrow. I asked him to send me something in writing and for his full name and job title, but he just hung up on me. The number showed up as a local one but had 'international' next to it, so it was clearly from some call centre. There was a noticeable pause before he answered, and I really struggled to understand him because of his accent. Pretty sure it’s a scam - these people really need to stop bothering us!

For the last three days, this Asian bloke’s been calling nonstop, telling me there’s some issue with our BT router. What's really annoying though is that our phone line isn’t even listed in the directory!

Got a call from this number earlier. The person said there was a problem with my BT router. I asked him to give me his public IP address so I could open my firewall to let him check it out. Instead, he just swore at me and hung up. Totally sounds like a scam. I wish BT or someone would step in and sort these kinds of calls out.

Just like everyone else, I got a call saying there was something wrong with my router. They wanted me to get on my computer, but when I told them I don’t even have one, the call ended straight away.

This number rang me up earlier claiming to be from TalkTalk, my supposed Internet company. I told them I actually use Virgin. Then they said something about calls being recorded. I just asked if they were daft, and the guy replied that he's the biggest idiot in the UK before hanging up.

Got a call from some bloke named Jack Johnson claiming my router had sent a nasty virus to BT's servers. I asked if he wanted to connect to my PC to fix it, and when he said yes, I just told him to jog on. Blocked the number straight away.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, but honestly, I could barely hear what he was saying. He told me to switch on my computer and press the ctrl key with the windows key to check something on my screen. When I asked for some ID or my BT customer number, he just hung up. The very next day, a lady called with the same spiel, but as soon as I said I knew it was a scam, she ended the call. Why is BT letting this happen under their name? Really, BT, you need to sort this out!

Just like some others have said, they said they were from BT but as soon as I asked for some kind of proof, they hung up on me. The phone line had this strange echo and there was an odd pause when I answered, which made me think something was off.

I got a call from someone with a strong Asian accent saying they were from BT and that my computer had a virus. I asked them to prove that they were really with BT, but all they said was that if I turned my computer on they could show me. I told them I wasn’t near my computer at the time and kept asking for some kind of confirmation. They kept saying they could show me once I was at the computer. I said I’d have to hang up and go get it, but they warned me I was taking a risk. Then they just cut me off. It all felt very suspicious to me.

Got a call around 1.35pm from a guy with a strong Asian (maybe Indian or Pakistani) accent, saying he was from BT and there was something wrong with my router. Told him I don’t use BT for internet. There was a pause and then he just cut the call. Looks like another scam, like that other time when someone pretending to be from Microsoft claimed my PC was infected with a virus.

Just like every other call I've had, there was this thick Indian accent bloke on the line, saying I had some issue with my router. He introduced himself as Justin Parker and claimed I could get £300 back on my security bill. I just ended the call straight away. After that, I rang BT to check if they'd actually been in touch or if it was a genuine call. BT said they hadn’t called at all, so it’s pretty clear this was a scam attempt.

This morning, my 90-year-old nan got a call from a man with an Asian accent claiming to be an engineer from BT. He told her to check the broadband hub and see if there were three blue lights on it. Since she was just roused from sleep, she felt something was off. Then he asked her to open her laptop so he could "fix" it, telling her to type some stuff in and give her personal info. Thankfully, she got suspicious when asked for those details and refused. I rang BT myself and they confirmed no one from them had contacted her in months. Total scammer sham, watch out!

Yesterday, I got a call from a lady speaking with a strong Asian accent. I pretty much told her the same things others have mentioned here. If she really worked for BT, she’d have known stuff like what type of router I’ve got. Then this morning, I got another call from a bloke calling from the same number, sounding American, with the same story about being BT tech support. Suspicious if you ask me.

This bloke said he was from BT, so I asked for my BT account number to make sure it was legit. Instead, he just kept saying it was something to do with my router. I asked a couple more times for my account number but he wouldn't give me one, just kept saying the same thing about the router over and over. I could tell he was dodgy, told him he was a scammer and then I ended the call.

I usually receive calls from my mates and clients around Barnt Green in south Birmingham, and their numbers often begin with "0121445". But this one call was odd because my phone showed “international” next to the number. When I rang back, it just said "you've dialled a wrong number". Felt a bit dodgy if you ask me!

I’ve just received a call from them, despite being ex-directory. An Indian gentleman claimed he was from BT and stated that my internet connection was being used by someone else! Oddly enough, the call was abruptly disconnected. What on earth is this all about?

What a troubling experience that was! I had recently contacted BT to address an issue and specifically asked them to ring me back. Before I knew it, my phone buzzed with a call from this number shortly after. I chose not to pick up, but upon glancing through the comments, I'm left wondering-could this really just be a mere coincidence?

I recommend you block this number immediately as it clearly reeks of a scam. I attempted to return the call, but thankfully it didn’t connect. It’s left me feeling quite anxious and disturbed, especially considering my number is supposed to be private. How on earth did they get hold of it?

I seem to have had a bit of a mishap with my earlier comment, as I couldn't quite see all of the screen. Regardless, I've had my fair share of being pursued by some rather unstable individuals, and I assure you, I don't find this situation in the slightest bit amusing. How on earth do these odd folk manage to dig up unlisted phone numbers?
