When someone picked up, they spoke with an Indian accent and said, “Good afternoon Sir, this is BT internet support. We’ve noticed some strange activity on your WiFi that scammers might be using.” I put the phone next to my iPad and played some moaning noises, then they just hung up on me.5 yearsMy phone showed a Birmingham number starting with 0121, so I answered since we have some elderly neighbours round there. I said “hello,” then there was a bit of a delay before the caller said “good morning ma’am, I’m ringing from BT about your internet service, are you the internet user at this address?” I asked who they were but they repeated the question in a very rough accent, then asked “am I speaking to Miss Ellie?” I replied “no” and hung up straight away. I tried to ring the number back but it came up as invalid.
