Spam Alerts: Frustration Over Persistent Calls from 01214235640

In recent years, many individuals across the UK have reported an alarming number of persistent phone calls from the number 01214235640. Most reactions reveal a blend of frustration and desperation as people grapple with a barrage of calls, many identifying the source as a telemarketing company linked to NPower, the energy supplier.

A Daily Irritation

People’s comments indicate a pervasive irritation, with numerous individuals experiencing multiple calls each day. One commenter noted, "I am sick to death of getting phone calls from this number - at least 5/6 times a day. It's driving me mad!" Such sentiments are echoed throughout many complaints, with remarks about receiving incessant calls at all hours.

Another shared their frustration stating, "Ringing my mobile 3 or 4 times a day...who is it?" These calls seem to be relentless, with some individuals reporting even receiving calls at odd hours, including the early mornings. One person revealed, “Called me even at 2 am; their number should be cut off.”

Telemarketing Tactics

The overwhelming majority seem to associate the number with NPower, identifying it as a pushy telemarketing tactic primarily used to sell services, such as solar panels. Comments like, “Very persistent calls on my mobile. Need to be stopped, very annoying,” have made it abundantly clear that many people want these calls to cease immediately.

Several individuals identified that the calls appear to be automated. "I think it's a computer and if you speak, it would alert someone at a call centre," one person expressed – highlighting how automated marketing can exacerbate the annoyance.

The Blurring Line of Trust

The persistent nature of the calls has led to a questioning of safety and privacy, casting doubts on how these companies obtain personal information. One frustrated recipient remarked, “I have had two missed calls from this number today and do not use NPower. This company should be stopped." People are understandably wary of how their details are being handled, and many express concern about potential fraud, especially when calls are made to numbers that are not publicly available.

“Sounds too dodgy to me. If NPower wants to talk to me, they can write. They know my address...” one user said, voicing concerns about sharing sensitive information over the phone.

Seeking Solutions

What's more alarming is that many seem unsure of how to stop the annoyance. One bewildered commenter asked, “How do you stop them?” Others have resorted to ignoring the calls or looking for ways to report them. Recommendations have been shared in the comments, pointing to organisations like the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

“I suggest anyone who is receiving these unsolicited calls should report the company to the TPS & ICO,” advised another user who has experienced similar harassment.

Action Wanted

The collective frustration conveyed in these comments has prompted some users to request stricter regulations against such telemarketing tactics, with calls for a law to be established to safeguard unsuspecting consumers from being harassed on their personal devices. “There should be a law against this,” one commented passionately, appealing for change.

In a world increasingly dominated by digital communication, the resurgence of incessant cold calls feels outdated to many. Individuals are expressing their yearning for an easy solution to reclaim their peace from the noise of unsolicited marketing.

The call from 01214235640 has undoubtedly left many seeking not just answers but also resolution to the growing problem of unwanted telemarketing, showing that with technology, some annoyances remain valiantly persistent.

As consumers continue to engage in dialogues to share their experiences, it is clear that everyone is looking forward to a more respectful approach to communication and a return to their desired peace and quiet.

For the past week and a bit, we've been inundated with these calls, yet we haven't responded to a single one. We're customers of NatWest, hold an O2 mobile contract, and are part of the NatWest Advantage Gold programme. Strangely, we never received these calls prior to enrolling in the scheme!

I picked up a call earlier today because I was intrigued; they've been pestering me two or three times each day. The person claimed to represent Npower and was rather cordial, explaining that I could save money on my gas and electricity. It all seemed straightforward until he requested my bank details, at which point he abruptly disconnected. Quite odd, to say the least!

I’ve received four calls from this number on my mobile—two yesterday and another couple today. I’ve chosen not to respond, as I tend to ignore calls from numbers I don’t recognise. Having seen the comments here, I can confidently say I won’t be picking up my phone for them anytime soon!

I've been getting calls from this number, along with a few others that seem to belong to the same parent company. Previously, I thought the best approach was to simply ignore them, but that only resulted in a brief lull of about a month before the calls started up again. Now, just yesterday, they've ramped up their efforts and are ringing me four to five times each day! I'm well aware of who’s on the other end and have chosen to continue ignoring their incessant attempts. For anyone else grappling with these unwanted calls, I'd strongly recommend reporting them to the TPS and ICO. You can make your voices heard at these links: https://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/ www.ico.gov.uk/for_the_public/topic_specific_guides/marketing/calls.aspx

I've received nearly 20 calls from this number throughout the past week. I picked up on the first ring, yet they seemed unable to hear my voice, despite me hearing the representative clearly when she mentioned she was from N-Power to chat about my account. However, I closed that account over a year and a half ago, so I haven’t bothered answering any subsequent calls. It all feels a bit fishy, if you ask me. If N-Power genuinely wishes to reach out, I’d prefer they send a letter. They already have my address, and I’m certainly not sharing it over the phone!

In the last thirteen weeks, we've received calls from this number roughly eight times. We just signed up for the NatWest Advantage Gold plan, which costs us £12 a week and comes with various perks, including phone insurance. Is it possible that these calls are linked to that scheme, or could this simply be some sort of scam? We've chosen not to pick up any of their calls so far, yet the relentless ringing continues.

I’ve received three calls from this number so far—on the 8th, 15th, and 16th of September. We’re not inclined to engage with them at all. Honestly, these unsolicited calls are quite tiresome, and if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t shed a tear if this sort of company faced tough times in an economic downturn. What a nuisance!

Our mother has been getting calls from this number claiming to represent "Phone4U." After checking out the comments above and below, we’ve realised it’s a scam. Regrettably, we called the number (with "141") and even left a message asking them not to contact us again. The chap on the line had a distinct Birmingham accent, which was quite striking since it’s a local number. We’re definitely planning to report this number to the authorities.

Blimey, we keep getting these blokes ringing us up, claiming to be from our bank. They keep saying they’ve got some new product that we ought to discuss. In the last twenty-four hours alone, they've tried to reach us four times!

I received a call from 0121 4235640 and just as I was about to pick up, the caller hung up. It’s the second time this has happened to me in as many days from a different number! Honestly, do these individuals not have anything more worthwhile to engage in?

We've been on the receiving end of their relentless calls for days now! In the end, we simply hang up on them. It's quite peculiar, though, as they keep trying our mobile, and we don't even have that number logged anywhere!

I've noticed that this number is linked to Npower, but I'm a bit baffled as to why they keep ringing me. I've chosen to just leave it unanswered. The automated message suggests that if you'd prefer not to receive further calls, you should contact 08457300181 and follow the prompts to remove yourself from their list. Trouble is, when you dial that number, it turns out to be non-existent. Quite the conundrum, isn't it?

Had a call from this number earlier today. As soon as I answered, they hung up. Out of curiosity, I decided to look up the number and stumbled upon this site. Just moments ago, the same number buzzed my phone again, this time masquerading as my bank. It really ruffled my feathers! I pressed them for details, and they claimed it was a "courtesy call." I told them I’d prefer to contact my bank when it suited me, rather than engage with unexpected callers. They promptly disconnected the line! Quite cheeky, if you ask me.

It seems we had a rather persistent individual trying to pitch us some sort of insurance, clearly under the impression that we were cherished clients of Debenhams with their store card. Despite our clear indication that we weren’t keen on the offer, they just wouldn't take no for an answer. Quite the nuisance, to be honest!

A month back, I received a call from this lot and asked my wife to handle it. They claimed to be representing our bank—who actually do have the right name—trying to chat about some new offering. I told them I wasn’t available at the time. Just now, I noticed another missed call from them, so I'll definitely set the record straight if they try reaching out again.

Over the past couple of days, I've received around 13 calls from this number, yet they never bother to leave a message. We didn't think much of it at first, but curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to look it up. Thankfully, I stumbled upon this website. Thanks a bunch!

I've been inundated with calls from this lot – it's incessant! I picked up the phone once, and they claimed to be from "the bank". Naturally, I asked which bank they represented, but they just went silent. Then, they had the audacity to ask for my date of birth, which I promptly refused to provide. I ended the call without hesitation. You can hear all sorts of strange sounds in the background, as if they’re holed up in a flat somewhere. It’s all a complete scam, without a doubt!

I received a call from this number, and they seemed to know my name, claiming to be offering new services from N Power. When I inquired about how they obtained my number, they mentioned it was sourced from my last online payment. I found that rather amusing since I don't actually use N Power, nor do I handle any bills! So, I made the point that it seems rather dodgy and could imply they had my information unlawfully. After that, I hung up! I'm tempted to answer next time with something like "Hello, Essex Crime and Fraud Squad!" and see how they respond!

Welcome Finance are the real offenders in this situation. They blatantly disregard basic human rights, invade privacy, and engage in unlawful harassment. Once you explain that you’re not the person they’re after and have no ties to them, they cease to listen entirely. It’s high time the feeble authorities hold such companies accountable. They need to be shut down for good!

I reckon I'm in the same boat as most folks here. This number has been ringing me two or three times daily for the past fortnight. I finally picked up today, only to be greeted with a cheery "Good Afternoon, Brighton Sexual Health Clinic." Quite amusingly, they decided to hang up straight after! I can't help but wonder if they’ll give me another ring. What a peculiar situation!

I've received a number of missed calls from this number lately, and I've associated it with NatWest and O2. Earlier today, I answered and they were trying to pitch some sort of substantial offer. It was quite peculiar because they seemed to know my name and number right off the bat. However, when they asked for my date of birth, I refused to share it. Oddly enough, they appeared to have that info anyway. Like many others here, I'm very cautious about divulging personal details. Has anyone had any luck getting results with NatWest? I’m definitely considering switching banks when I get the chance.

I've been receiving calls from this number nearly every day at about noon, and today I finally thought I’d give them a call back. Instead of a ringing tone, I was immediately directed to a pre-recorded message that stated: "This is a recorded message from N Power. Regrettably, we couldn't connect your call and we're sorry for any hassle this may cause. If you'd like to stop any further marketing calls from N Power to this number, please dial 08457 300 186 and follow the prompts to have your details removed." Today, I received two missed calls from a number that I am not familiar with. It seems like they are from npower, but I am actually an O2 user. These calls are quite unpleasant, and the persistent attempts to gain business are truly annoying. The reason this bothers me so much is that I have a sick father who lives in the West Midlands, and my mobile phone is crucial for staying connected with him. Whenever I see a call coming in from a 0121 number, I can't help but worry that it might be something related to his well-being. It is absolutely imperative that action is taken to put a stop to this company's unwanted calls.
