They claim to be BT but they're actually D2 Communications Ltd, acting as a dealer for BT under "BT Local Business". They'll say whatever it takes to get you to add more BT lines or sign up to long contracts since thats how they earn their commissions from BT. BT hands over your info to these local business firms even though it goes against data protection rules and keeps doing it. They’re not BT and will probably give you wrong advice, dont fall for it.

My phone buzzed and when I picked up, there was no one on the line.

Said it was a BT business call and wanted to know who runs some barber shop (probably made up name). Asked him to say the shop or company again, then told him he's got the wrong number. Hung up straight away. Feels like a scam call trying to get business info - blocked them.

Somebody rang me saying they were from BT and even used my name. I said I doubt it since I’m not even a customer and told them not to bother calling again before hanging up. They called me straight back, insisted they were legit BT, then started pushing a sales pitch. I told them once more to take me off their list and that I’d report them to BT just in case they actually are from there. Then I blocked the number.

To “Danny”, “Jayne” and others chiming in:- Thanks for your input, but keep in mind that ANY phone number, even those belonging to legit folks or businesses, can also be “SPOOFED” at the same time (which means it’s faked, used deceitfully, copied, or there’s some kind of impersonation going on). So when you get a call from that number, it could be the real deal (like “BT Local Business - Birmingham To Hereford” here - try calling it back to check!), or it might be scammers pretending to be them (and really calling from anywhere across the globe!). That’s exactly why if you’re unsure whether a call really is from your Bank, it’s best to just hang up and call them back on a number you already know is legit, like one on your statement or their official website. In this case, if you had any suspicions about the “BT Local Business - Birmingham to Hereford” calling you from 0121 423 5600, just put the phone down and call them straight back on that same number. We’ve done it ourselves before, so we can confirm it’s a genuine call for incoming numbers at least. Cheers, Jimbo!

Totally agree with the earlier post, some folks just write stuff without really understanding what's going on. I've been working with these guys for over 7 years now. They've sent their team to my place to check cables and sort out phone upgrades. This is definitely BT Business and completely trustworthy, I always ring this office myself. BT Business operates from Birmingham, while the BT residential branch is near the hospital roundabout in West Bromwich. Hope that clears things up a bit!

This also sheds light on why a single number, like this one, can have such a confusing mix of good and bad reviews - it’s because the number is being used SIMULTANEOUSLY by real folks (like BT) and also by scammers. And that’s why NONE of the CRITICAL comments should be deleted (Jayne and others?), since those negative reports probably come from calls made by the fraudsters, not BT! Basically, ANY phone number can be FAKED, and you can never be totally sure that the caller is legit, meaning no number is ever completely reliable! (More to come [again!].)

Like a lot of folks have said, this isn't actually BT Business but probably some sort of franchise, so if you think BT are dodgy, wait till you deal with these jokers. They said I couldn't keep my regular phone anymore and forced me to get a VoIP phone at a whopping £280 plus VAT, and my contract renewal was gonna be £20 more each month. I called BT themselves, renewed for about the same cost as before, and they told me normal phones won’t be discontinued until 2025. Total lies from those clowns.
