I received a robocall earlier stating, “If you’re a Barclays, Lloyds, or Nat West client, you’re entitled to some form of compensation. Hit 5 to continue or 9 to opt-out of future calls.” I decided against pressing 9. I’ve been with the Telephone Preference Service for ages now. Honestly, if I had any inkling about the true identity of these callers, I’d surely ring them non-stop at all hours!

Once got these annoying fax calls that gobbled up loads of my fax paper, like half a roll each time. The only way to make them quit was by sending a fax back to a number, which ended up costing me a fortune! This scam pretty much uses the same nasty trick - pay or expect nonstop hassle. I didn’t know who it was so I called back using 141 before the number, and ended up hearing a recorded message saying the number’s been blocked by the fraud department. They asked to report it by calling an 0300 number or visiting a website they mentioned. Feels a bit dodgy to me - could that whole thing be a scam too?
