I got a call from a woman claiming to be from some company named "Leyland Marketing Consultants" asking if we were interested in pursuing a claim about supposed mis-selling of timeshares. She’d already sent an email with what looked like a proper company website, but when I checked it out, the site was just basic info with no real way to get in touch or follow up. The email came from someone called Rebecca, asking us to ring 01213143990 to discuss our details. Honestly, I reckon it's all a well-organised and expensive con. BE WARNED.

Complete scam artists exploiting some law about timeshares. If you fit their profile, they'll try to get you to pay an upfront fee promising a big payout, but it's all a con. They're linked to a group operating out of Palma, Spain. Honestly, I wish I could track them down and give them a piece of my mind! Just a heads up: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

From my experience, those calls seem to be from Club La Costa as well. I sometimes wonder if the companies offering to help you with compensation claims or to sort out your timeshare actually have links to Club La Costa themselves? Picture this: you've spent a fortune on your timeshare plus those annoying yearly maintenance fees, and you’ve had enough. Then you get a call from what sounds like an independent outfit promising to help you reclaim your money, for a fee of course. Next year, you find out your claim didn’t go anywhere or the sale didn’t happen, but if you cough up another smaller fee, they’ll give it another shot! Meanwhile, you’re stuck keeping up with the management fees because you can’t do anything about the timeshare unless you still "own" it.

Got a cold call from some bloke called Martin Lesage from "Appointing Consultants". He was pushing a “No win, no fee” deal to get back money from a dodgy timeshare, but then said he’d take 25% of whatever I got back. He had no clue about the telephone preference service either. A guy called saying he was from 'Appointing Consultants' and mentioned they were based in Birmingham but wouldn’t give me a proper address. He told me his number was 0121 667 3458, but when I checked with 1471 it showed up as 0121 392 2553. He said he was just updating their records since I'm supposedly a DRI member. Of course, he gave me the typical dodgy story about how he’d legally obtained my info.

Got a call from a bloke who said he was with 'Appointing Consultants' based in Birmingham. Seems like this same number has been tied to a few other firms before - like 'Edwards Consultancy', 'Leyland Marketing' and 'Timeshare Solutions'. They all say they can help you get cash back for timeshare mis-selling, but I’m pretty sure it’s just the same scam in different disguise.

Just got a ring from Leyland Consultants. We ended up talking about my timeshare and how I got mis-sold it, which sounded a lot like a call I’d had from Edwards Consultants before. Feels like they might be connected or the exact same firm. They even had an email address I’d given to these types of companies - bit odd, right? Chat finished when I told them I’m on the TPS and already flagged Edwards Consultants.

Since 16 June 2017, we've been called 12 times by this number. We picked up once and it turned out to be a pitch about timeshares.
