Got a call just now, but they cut off the moment I picked up. Tried dialing back but it said the number wasn’t recognised.

Somebody rang up saying they were a policy advisor for the person who used to live here. Thing is, that lady passed away four years ago! Quite strange really.

On the 10th of November, I got a call from a woman who already knew my name and started asking if my appliances were alright. When I told her I suspected she might be another scammer, she got quite hostile. I ended the call straight away, looked up the number afterwards, and have since blocked it.

I tried to be polite when I asked about the organisation he was calling from, but he was quite uncooperative. He claimed he didn’t work for any company and said it was some kind of “government review”. When I requested that their Data Protection Officer remove my information from their database (which any proper firm has to do), he got nasty and refused, snapping, “You’re not making this easy for me, so why should I bother helping you?” before hanging up. I’ve blocked the number now, but I wish there was a way to block these calls beforehand. Leaving these comments might help though, sadly.

At first, I assumed it was Domestic and General trying to get me to renew my kitchen appliance breakdown cover. They asked for my bank details to set up a “direct debit mandate,” but the person had a really thick foreign accent. Felt off, so I just ended the call. Didn’t feel right at all.
