Finally took the plunge and answered today, only to find it was a cold caller harassing me for more personal information, despite them already having my name and address! Naturally, I declined to confirm anything. I insisted they erase my information and to refrain from calling me again, but they just hung up! If I'm not mistaken, under UK law, if a number is registered here, they’re obliged to delete your details once you request it. Complete scammers!

When we pressed for the name of the caller, they were quite evasive and wouldn’t disclose their company’s identity.
