Had a call from Kate, some robot spouting nonsense about a government site hacking me or something. When I called back, the bloke on the line just gave up on me pretty quick - I was hoping to drag it out and waste a bit of his time!

Yep, it’s me, Kate. You wouldn’t believe this, but somehow my number got mixed up in a government hack. Of course it did, hasn't it?! Honestly, I’m barely surprised anymore!

It’s me, Kate once more. Somehow my phone number’s been tied to a government hack - guess what, of course it has! What are the odds?

So yeah, total scam alert. Some bloke rang me saying he was from BT, trying to make me believe they’re my internet provider. When I said nah, he just hung up! Then for laughs I called the number again, but this time the person who picked up barely spoke any English and was all over the place. After a bit of a weird convo, he threatened to cut off my internet. Now I’m just sitting here waiting for my router to start shining like a disco light or something!

Had a similar experience - when I said I’d ring him back, he suddenly got all dodgy and then pretty rude when I mentioned I needed to verify the number. Just a heads up to be careful.

I must admit, I find these cunning con artists quite amusing. They practically invite you into their digital lair.

I received a voicemail concerning a potential hack on a government site. I've made several attempts to return the call, but it seems no one picks up. I was quite anxious about my landline going down, which led me to look up the number. Now, I've made up my mind to block it!

I wanted to share a rather alarming incident that recently unfolded. A chap who claimed to be ‘Austin Wills’ from Virgin Media contacted my dad, asserting that his account had been compromised. He proceeded to ask for numerous account details under the guise of assisting him. Regrettably, my father unwittingly provided some sensitive information, which then led to a frenzied attempt to manipulate his finances. Thankfully, the bank caught wind of some dubious activity and promptly reached out to my dad just in time. Whilst this was all going on, the supposed ‘Austin’ continued to pester my old man on the phone, inquiring why he wasn’t picking up. When I took one of the calls, I made it clear that I was onto his little scheme-his response was to suggest a meeting, to which I firmly told him to jog on and hung up. Since then, I haven’t heard another peep from him. But it was a very near miss, so please, everyone, stay vigilant!

Got a bunch of calls on my home phone recently, all sounding like a total scam. They keep saying “your service provider” without naming anyone, which is a dead giveaway - no legit internet company just says that without ID. Plus, if these were real hackers, you’d probably see the cops showing up before they’d bother with a polite warning about cutting your line!

This number keeps ringing me all the time, but whenever I try to call back, there's just this weird buzzing noise that never stops. It's my home phone that's getting all these calls. They never even hang around for me to pick up when they ring.

Got a recorded message from someone called 'Kate' with a British accent, supposedly from my internet provider, saying my IP was involved in hacking a government site yesterday. She said my broadband and landline would be cut off in 24 hours unless I rang 0121 368 0326 - the exact number they were calling me from! Then, when I called back, I got put through to a call centre in South Asia, where a woman repeated the same script as 'Kate'. Classic scam from those call centres in India or nearby. Best block that number quick!

Got a call from an automated voice warning my internet would be cut off in a day. Then, this woman got on the line, telling me my internet got hacked and used to break into some government website. She gave me her name, employee ID, and a phone number to confirm she was legit. She even mentioned what she called my internet licence number. When I doubted her, she stayed calm throughout. Pretty sure it was a scam though, so watch out! She sounded really convincing but I didn’t buy it.

Got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, claiming he was with BT. When I told him BT isn’t my internet provider, he still insisted it was! The thing is, my internet runs on a different line altogether, not the BT one. He actually argued back like he knew better! Honestly, one of the dodgiest scammers I’ve ever dealt with.

I received a call from this number, and they were inquiring if the woman I assist had a computer and could power it up. When I overheard her reply that she did indeed have one but it would take her some time to get it going, I decided to take the phone from her and bid them farewell. Shortly after, they called again, questioning why I had ended the call and became rather rude!

I received a rather alarming automated call from someone claiming to be Kate from my internet service provider. They mentioned that there'd been some sort of hacking incident linked to my IP address, implicating me in a breach of a governmental site. Just got a call from this number warning me my phone would be cut off in a day unless I called them back on 0121 3680326. I’m really upset about it, especially since I’m 90 years old. My brother, who’s 98, is blind and served in the navy on dangerous Russian convoy missions ten times. We need the phone for emergencies. After reading others’ comments, I’m feeling a bit calmer now.

Got a call from some bloke trying to sneak into my computer. I decided to mess around and kept the guy chatting for about 20 minutes, pretending to be clueless.
