So yeah, total scam alert. Some bloke rang me saying he was from BT, trying to make me believe they’re my internet provider. When I said nah, he just hung up! Then for laughs I called the number again, but this time the person who picked up barely spoke any English and was all over the place. After a bit of a weird convo, he threatened to cut off my internet. Now I’m just sitting here waiting for my router to start shining like a disco light or something!

I got a voicemail about some hacking scare on a Government site. I rang the number back a few times but no one picked up. I was worried sick after my landline went down, so I looked up the number online. Definitely gonna block it now!

My dad got a call from a bloke saying he was 'Austin Wills' from Virgin. He claimed that Dad’s Virgin Media account had been hacked and wanted loads of account info. Dad unknowingly gave out some details, and soon after, there was an attempted withdrawal and deposit on one of his bank accounts. Luckily, the bank spotted the dodgy activity and rang Dad to warn him. Dad rushed down to the bank, and in the meantime, this Austin character kept ringing asking where he was. I answered one of the calls and told him I knew what he was up to. He even asked to meet me! So I told him where to go and hung up. No more calls since. It was a close call, so honestly, be careful out there.

Got a bunch of calls on my home phone recently, all sounding like a total scam. They keep saying “your service provider” without naming anyone, which is a dead giveaway - no legit internet company just says that without ID. Plus, if these were real hackers, you’d probably see the cops showing up before they’d bother with a polite warning about cutting your line!

Got a recorded message from someone called 'Kate' with a British accent, supposedly from my internet provider, saying my IP was involved in hacking a government site yesterday. Then, when I called back, I got put through to a call centre in South Asia, where a woman repeated the same script as 'Kate'. Classic scam from those call centres in India or nearby. Got a call from an automated voice warning my internet would be cut off in a day. Then, this woman got on the line, telling me my internet got hacked and used to break into some government website. She gave me her name, employee ID, and a phone number to confirm she was legit. She even mentioned what she called my internet licence number. When I doubted her, she stayed calm throughout. Pretty sure it was a scam though, so watch out! She sounded really convincing but I didn’t buy it.

Got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, claiming he was with BT. When I told him BT isn’t my internet provider, he still insisted it was! A fella from this number called the lady I help and asked if she had a computer and if she could turn it on. When I overheard her say yes but it might take a bit of time to get it going, I grabbed the phone and ended the call. Then he rang back asking why I’d cut off and started shouting at me!
