5 yearsWhile sorting out a computer issue for a client, I found that her login password had been changed without her knowledge, and she was locked out of her PC. Every time she tries, a message pops up saying her password hint is "contact tech support on 0121 318 4645". When you call that number, they ask for money to fix the password problem. I haven't figured out yet how they managed to get remote control to change her password. My client is certain she never gave anyone remote access. From what I can tell, it looks like some kind of malware she accidentally downloaded is to blame.5 yearsSome weirdo tried to hack into my Windows computer and was after my personal info and cash. Proper creepy when you think about it. Thankfully, I caught on and didn't give them a chance to get in. Stay careful out there, folks!6 yearsTotal rip-off!9 yearsSome bloke called me claiming he was from a legal firm looking into some accident I supposedly had. I gave him a good run around, even asked for his firm's registration number, which he couldn’t provide. When I pressed him on it, he just hung up. I'm proper chuckling about it as I write this! :-)10 yearsI've had loads of calls from these guys saying they’re from the Motor Insurance Bureau. They knew my name and my old car’s registration, which I don't even have anymore. But when they started mentioning accident details and other stuff, it was either completely made up or they were mixing me up with someone else!Motor Insurance Bureau10 yearsGot a call earlier, some so-called solicitors claiming it was about a recent accident. When I told them this number is on the TPS list, they flipped out and started shouting, telling me where to stick the TPS. Proper rude!Telephone Preference ServiceTPS10 yearsJust like many others here, the caller started off by using my name and claimed there’d just been an accident involving someone at my address. He said he was calling from the RTA or some government agency dealing with road traffic incidents. When I mentioned I’m registered with the TPS and shouldn’t be getting calls like this, he said his calls were exempt because he was from an official organisation (wish that were true!). He went on to spin a made-up story about the accident, obviously trying to drag me into some kind of bogus claim.Telephone Preference Service10 yearsDuring the day, I got in touch with my elderly aunt about a supposed 'car crash' she'd been involved in. She was absolutely frantic with anxiety the whole day, but thankfully, she didn't share any personal details.10 yearsGot a call about some car accident claims again, such a pain! They didn’t seem to care that I’m on the TPS. Really annoying these calls keep coming through.10 yearsThis number rang my husband earlier. They claimed to be from a legal office and insisted there was some sort of accident on file involving us within the past three years. Since we never had any accident, he made that clear before ending the call.10 yearsGot a phone call just now but nobody spoke when I picked up. Bit odd.10 yearsReceived a call from someone with an Asian accent, and I must say, I struggled to decipher what he was on about. He had quite the aggressive tone as well! He introduced himself as 'Jason' and insisted his solicitors were handling some sort of accident claim for me. I made it clear that I don’t have a driving licence myself, but then he started probing about my relatives who might. In jest, I mentioned my little grandson, who's just two and apparently 'learning' the ropes! I’ve since blocked his number; what a nuisance!Jason10 yearsGot a call from an Asian bloke today about some accident I supposedly had, which I know nothing about. I hung up straight away, but he rang back and started shouting at me because I’d put the phone down earlier. What a muppet. Obviously, I ended the call again, no point wasting time.10 yearsI’ve had a similar experience where they rang me about a car accident that I’ve never been involved in. I ended up hanging up on them, but they proceeded to call me back not once, but twice, and were incredibly rude.10 yearsGot a call from this number claiming I was in some accident that never happened. Someone rang my grandparents' home regarding a car crash they've never been involved in and, to top it off, they don’t even possess a car! When I explained the situation and ended the call, that person had the audacity to ring back, throwing a temper tantrum and being downright nasty because I hung up. Honestly, it’s ridiculous; they simply don’t own a vehicle!10 yearsI picked up the phone on my parents' landline when it rang. The caller wanted to speak to Mr ####. I told him there’s two of us here and asked which one he meant. He said it was for my dad, who wasn't home because he was at work. Then the bloke started talking about a car crash I supposedly had, which is completely untrue. I asked if he was calling from the UK, and he said yes. When I mentioned I’m on the TPS list and questioned why he was cold calling me anyway, he suddenly became really hostile.UKTelephone Preference Service10 yearsGot a call from someone with an Asian accent asking if I was Mr XXXXX. Bit odd tho cos if they dialled my number, wouldn’t they already know who I am?10 yearsI got three calls from someone asking about a car crash they said was reported from my address. At first, I wouldn’t share any info until they explained what happened. The bloke hung up but rang again, this time quoting my name and address exactly. When I asked where they had that info from, he said it was the RTA, saying it’s some government agency. I told him if that’s true, they should respect the TPS rules, then he just disconnected the call.RTASubmit Your Own Report (0121 318 5656)
