Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming to be from the Claims Advisory Bureau. She said I was entitled to a refund for some bank charges and that they’d be posting a cheque to my home, quoting my full address and postcode. Figured it was a scam straight away, so I just played along and told her to send the cheque without delay. Then she started asking for my date of birth and other personal details. I told her I don’t share that kind of info on the phone and she immediately ended the call. Pretty obvious it was a con.

Got a call from a woman with a thick foreign accent who spoke really slowly, claiming she was ringing from Manchester. It was so obvious it was a scam. I told her to try somewhere else with her old, worn-out story, but she kept insisting it wasn’t a scam. Some woman with a West African accent called me, saying I had debts to settle somewhere. Honestly, she was rubbish at trying to convince me! Today I got a call from this number telling me I had a refund from ages ago. They said they'd ring me again on Monday. I never shared any bank info but did end up giving them my DOB. Strangely, they already had my full name, address and postcode. The number they called from was 01213185159.

But then she asked for my bank name before she could arrange a call tomorrow to tell me how much the cheque would be for. I wasn’t comfortable giving that out, and she kept pushing me to say it, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from someone overseas who asked my elderly mum if she was a pensioner. When she said yes, they told her she could get a rebate. They then asked if she lived by herself, and after she said no, they wanted to know if the other person in the house had a job. Mum gave them her address and date of birth, but when they asked for her bank’s name, she didn’t want to give it and hung up the phone.

Over the past week, I kept getting calls claiming I owed a large sum and that they’d be sending a cheque. A few days after the first call, the same person called back asking for my address to send the cheque. But today, he rang again, demanding £300 upfront so he could "release" the cheque. I told him I didn’t have that money available. When I said no, he started getting aggressive and even threatened to take me to court, saying he’d got my bank details from the government. It all sounded a bit dodgy to me.
