I put her on hold and contacted my bank right away, who confirmed it was a scam. Shortly after, the 'Amazon' caller hung up. I wanted to report it but the bank said police wouldn’t be able to do much. Surely this number can be tracked? It really sounded like a noisy call centre with a bunch of scammers behind it.

I’ve told them to report any alleged criminal behaviour to the police and await their guidance regarding the next steps. Strangely, they usually hang up after that. In just a couple of days, I’ve received two calls from the number 3183447, with someone claiming to be from BT, insisting that there are issues with my broadband. Interestingly, when I feigned ignorance about having a computer yesterday-though that was a little fib-they hung up straight away. Today, I answered but was met with silence after I greeted them. Quite the peculiar experience!

got a call from a woman with an asian accent claiming she was from bt, but you could hear loads of noise like an office right behind her. she told me my email was at risk and that i needed to fix it with her. i told her i wasn’t buying it and she just hung up on me.

Got a call today and when I picked up, I could hear loads of people talking in the background. I said “hi?” but no one replied, so I just ended the call. I figured it was probably one of those dodgy scam calls trying to get info. No thanks!

I received a call from 01213183447, which claimed to be an international call. This was actually my second call of the day; the first came from 01444390641. I’ve come across reports mentioning the same sort of scam using different numbers. Neither left a message, so I’ve promptly blocked them! Quite the nuisance, really!

I received a call from a chap who had an Indian accent and was using a Christian name. He was trying to peddle something related to Virgin Media and when I realised it was a scam, I told him to clear off!

I chose not to pick up this call, but I had received one yesterday from someone claiming to be representing BT with regards to my internet. The thing is, I’m not even a BT customer! Interestingly, similar to what someone else mentioned here, they claimed to have sent a PIN to my email, which actually appeared to be authentic. I ended the call before checking my inbox, but if it had truly been a legitimate concern regarding my service, surely they would have attempted to reach me again? It's rather unsettling how they managed to get hold of my email address in the first place.

i got a call yesterday and then again today from a woman who spoke with a heavy indian/ asian accent claiming she was from sky. you could hear loads of chatter in the background which instantly made me wary. the moment she mentioned sky, the strong accent and noisy background set off alarm bells since i’ve had similar calls before, same accent but pretending to be from the water board. didn’t hang around to find out more and ended the call straight away. what annoyed me most was it came from an 0121 number, so it looks like it’s right here in birmingham, england.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be part of the technical team for Sky broadband, insisting that I was experiencing connectivity problems. When I responded with a simple 'that's not the case,' the line went dead without another word. Quite the dodgy encounter, if you ask me!

Just had a rather dubious phone call from a woman with an Indian accent, using the number 01213183447, claiming to represent BT. She mentioned that there were some I.P addresses misusing my broadband connection and inquired if I had noticed any sluggish internet performance. She then proceeded to instruct me to pull up the command prompt on my computer so they could assist in blocking these rogue I.Ps. At that moment, I realised it was nothing but a scam, considering my background in IT, so I informed her and she clearly didn’t take it well before abruptly ending the call. I've since shared this encounter on our local WhatsApp group to alert others, only to find out she had reached out to another villager as well. What a bunch of charlatans!

Got a call from 01213183447 pretending to be Sky, asking me who the account holder was. I couldn’t be bothered with all their nonsense so told them to get lost. Another scam attempt, typical.

Total scam, really. Some woman named Lena said she was calling from Virgin and needed my info to fix my internet speed. When I asked about the free modem upgrade they mention on their site, she just hung up on me straight away. Probably just cost them the call fee.
