She then insisted my account was compromised and asked me to log in on my laptop to help fill out a refund form and cancel my Amazon account. When I asked her to call me back, she said she was calling from her landline and this was the only chance to fix it before my card got charged. I put her on hold and contacted my bank right away, who confirmed it was a scam. Shortly after, the 'Amazon' caller hung up. I wanted to report it but the bank said police wouldn’t be able to do much. Surely this number can be tracked? It really sounded like a noisy call centre with a bunch of scammers behind it.

There’s been an absolute flood of scam calls from India lately, and these crooks are making a killing off folks who are easy targets. Honestly, it’s best to just assume every call like this is dodgy and not genuine. If by some chance it’s legit, they’ll usually have some of your info already - like your name or reference numbers - and they’ll reach out through other means too. Most of these scammers want to get access to your PC so they can nick you out of hundreds or even thousands of pounds. I’ve watched loads of videos on YouTube showing how these scammers operate, and it’s scary stuff.

Got a call today and when I picked up, I could hear loads of people talking in the background. I said “hi?” but no one replied, so I just ended the call. I figured it was probably one of those dodgy scam calls trying to get info. No thanks!

Got a call from 01213183447, said it was some kind of international call? This is the second time today, the other one was from 01444390641. Checked and seen loads report it as the same scam just using different numbers. Didn’t leave any message so just blocked it straight away!!!

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent, but his name sounded totally Christian. He said he was from Virgin Media and tried to scam me. Told me to "foxtrot oscar," whatever that was meant to mean!

I didn’t pick up when this number called, but yesterday I got a ring claiming to be from BT about my internet, which is odd because I’m not a BT customer. Similar to what someone else mentioned here, they said they’d emailed me a PIN. The email seemed legit at first glance. I ended the call before checking the email properly. If it had been a real issue with my internet, surely they’d have called again, right? It’s a bit unsettling how they might’ve got hold of my email address.

i got a call yesterday and then again today from a woman who spoke with a heavy indian/ asian accent claiming she was from sky. you could hear loads of chatter in the background which instantly made me wary. the moment she mentioned sky, the strong accent and noisy background set off alarm bells since i’ve had similar calls before, same accent but pretending to be from the water board. didn’t hang around to find out more and ended the call straight away. what annoyed me most was it came from an 0121 number, so it looks like it’s right here in birmingham, england.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Sky broadband support, saying there was a problem with my internet. I told them I wasn’t having any issues, and they just ended the call straight away.

I just got a call from a woman with an Indian accent, number 01213183447, claiming to be from BT. She said they had detected some IP addresses using my broadband and asked if my internet had been slow lately. Then she told me to open the command prompt on my computer so she could help block these addresses. I quickly realised it was a scam since I work in IT, and when I called her out on it, she wasn’t pleased and hung up straight away. I shared this on my village WhatsApp to make sure others didn’t get caught out, and it turns out she’d already tried contacting someone else nearby. Absolute con artists.

Got a call from 01213183447 pretending to be Sky, asking me who the account holder was. I couldn’t be bothered with all their nonsense so told them to get lost. Another scam attempt, typical.

Total scam, really. Some woman named Lena said she was calling from Virgin and needed my info to fix my internet speed. When I asked about the free modem upgrade they mention on their site, she just hung up on me straight away. Probably just cost them the call fee.
