They called me by name and claimed to be representing the UK government. They told me I was eligible for a free boiler programme and tried to get me to share more personal details. I ended the call as soon as that happened.

So this person called me and actually knew my name, claiming to be from "the energy company" about my boiler. They asked if it was over 7 years old, and I just ended the call right then. Not sure if it was a dodgy sales pitch or some sort of scam, but I didn’t want to risk it.

I picked up the phone and all I could hear was some weird computer noise in the back, but no one actually said anything. I kept saying hello like five times, then they just ended the call.
