Phoned my mobile and insisted it wasnt a sales call, asking for someone who wasnt me. I told them they had the wrong number. Then they asked if this was the address they mentioned. I said its a mobile number, and he went on about checking gas supply to offer a £20k energy grant - but he didnt even have the right name! Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

He kicked off by sayin "No sales call, I promise." The quickest way to shut it down is to say you've moved into a Housing Association place, and they seem to lose interest straight away. The bloke on the phone was quite polite mind.

I stuck with the call just to see what it was about. They said they’re from an energy-saving firm, aiming to help reduce people’s carbon footprints. When I mentioned I don’t use gas or oil heating and rely on a wood burner, they quickly lost interest and said they’d remove me from their call list. They say they’re from some energy saving company, but don’t believe it!!! They’re total scammers, really risky. Their main aim is to grab your bank info and then drain your account dry. Best thing is to just ignore and block them if you can. I told the police about their number but I’m not sure they’ll do anything because they keep swapping numbers and might not even be operating here.

Picked up when this number called and as soon as the bloke started on government grants I said no thanks and put the phone down. He called me right back. I ended the call pretty sharp again without saying anything. He kept ringing about 6 more times but I just let it ring out. On the 7th call I answered and told him off for keepin on calling and asked if bugging people was his job. He reckoned if I had just listened to him the first time he wouldnt have to keep calling. I asked for a manager and he said there wasnt one. Hung up again and haven’t had any calls since.

Got a really unpleasant bloke on the phone saying he was from some government programme and insisted he wasn't trying to sell me anything! He wouldn’t hear a word when I said I’m not interested cos I don’t even own a house. I’m tempted to report them under GDPR! They shouldn’t be calling unless the call genuinely helps me (not just them), and they gotta prove that’s the case (balancing test or whatever). Also, if you ask them to take you off their list, they must do it!
