Total scam, especially since he never mentioned anyone by name but talked about 'serious charges' hanging over someone in our house. Today, 4th June, I got a call from someone claiming to be Officer Mike Wilson from HMRC around 1:15 pm. He left a message on my home phone’s voicemail, warning me about a possible legal case if I didn’t call back. He gave a phone number but without the leading zero. Oddly, he ended the message with something like "have a good day and stay blessed." I’m based in Greater Manchester. The call came from the number 0121 285 5861.

Some bloke called Mike Wilson said he was from HMRC and that there were serious problems involving my National Insurance number and name. I received a phone call from this number, with someone claiming to be Mike Wilson, purportedly an officer from HMRC. He went on to assert that legal repercussions were imminent if I failed to return his call, even mentioning a potential serious lawsuit. Intrigued, I decided to ring the number back, and, as luck would have it, the same man picked up, still insisting he was Mike Wilson. I confronted him about his threats and made my feelings quite clear, yet he remained completely silent and didn’t respond to any of my points. Got a call early this morning about 8:30 from a bloke speaking with a kind of Asian-American accent, claiming he was from some Special Unit at HMRC. I used to work for HMRC so I reckoned he was just a fraud. I just said "Bollocks" to him and he didn’t say a thing back. I then asked if he even knew what that word meant, and that’s when he hung up.

I got two calls from a Birmingham number, each time a recorded voice saying it was “John Smith from HMRC,” saying I owed money and they were about to send a warrant out or something. The message told me to call back on that same number but I just knew it was a total scam, so I hung up straight away. After that, I got another call from Leeds with the same spiel, then two more from Birmingham again, but I just ignored those ones. Definitely a dodgy scam going on.

My 13 year old got a call from this number and it totally freaked her out. I rang them back straight away and told them they need to talk to me because she’s a minor. I kept pushing them to explain themselves but eventually the bloke just ended the call on me.
