Got a call pretending to be from Amazon - total scam! Watch out, they’re trying to trick people.

Got a call from someone saying my Amazon Prime had run out and they wanted money right away over the phone. I said I pay monthly and my renewal wasn’t due for ages but she kept pushing, saying I must’ve accidentally switched to a yearly plan and needed to pay else my account would be cancelled. Didn't bother with her and just ended the call.

Just got a call like this a few minutes ago, and honestly, I reckon this ain’t the only trick they’ve got up their sleeves! Lately, I’ve also been getting these odd emails that look like they’re from Amazon but have individual names on them. They pop up nearly every day. The email address is the main thing that gives it away, but if you’re not paying close attention, the background design is pretty convincing.

If you want to stop these calls quickly, just tell them to send you a letter through the post but don’t provide your address. Say they ought to have it already, and if they insist on asking, this usually makes them end the call right away.

I received a peculiar voicemail claiming to be from Amazon, stating that my Amazon Prime subscription was on the brink of expiration and that they intended to charge me £79.99 shortly. They urged me to press 1 to connect with an agent, which I did out of sheer frustration, as my feelings towards Amazon have soured recently. However, when I got through, the agent seemed rather inexperienced and abruptly cut the call while I was expressing my astonishment at the situation, given that my membership isn’t due to expire until February. I mentioned that I’d be willing to cancel immediately if they could offer a partial refund. Just a word of caution: steer clear of sharing any card information, as it all felt rather dodgy to me.

Early morning, my elderly dad got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was from Amazon Prime. She told him his account got hacked and that £79.99 had been taken but then refunded. The next thing she did was try to get him to install some app called “anydesk,” probably to get into his account or something. Luckily, he just hung up and went back to bed. Who knows what might’ve happened if he stayed on the phone longer? Absolute scumbags, honestly. It really winds me up!

Got a call from a number I didn´t recognise and it hung up as soon as I answered. Usually, that sounds like one of those automated calls that shut off if no one picks quickly, but it might also be some ring back scam thing. Someone rang me saying they were from BT and said there was a security problem with my internet. Problem is, I’m not with BT and my broadband is working fine. She kept trying to convince me there was an issue though. After a while, I told her I’d hang up and look into it myself if she didn’t stop. They claimed to be from BT and mentioned that they were experiencing issues with their broadband. It was clear to me they weren't affiliated with the actual company, so I just told them to bog off and promptly blocked the number.

01212853945 keeps ringing me up a lot. The person calling is clueless - couldn’t even say my partner’s name properly! It’s about some claim that 15 people are using our internet and messing with it. Honestly, in the end I just hung up on them. What a joke!

Hello! I've been receiving calls from individuals masquerading as SKY. However, I’m aware that SKY has provided me with a specific contact number for any queries. So, I politely, yet firmly, told them to leave me alone!

I received a call from these folks as well, masquerading as representatives from SKY, claiming there was an issue with my internet that needed urgent attention. However, I was already aware that SKY uses a different number to reach out, which immediately raised my suspicions about their authenticity. It's clearly yet another scam. Please, everyone, stay vigilant!

Honestly, this has happened so often now... if you do pick up, just ignore it, it's not worth the hassle.

This person claimed to be from Openreach and wanted me to pull up something on Google on my phone. When I asked them to confirm their identity, they quickly got a bit pushy, saying if I just opened my phone, they would be able to show me. It felt quite suspicious to me.

Got a call about some dodgy stuff happening on my Visa card, right? When I asked which card they meant, the bloke said something about an account I don’t even have. I just ended the call straight away after that.

Got a call about some cash missing from my account, asking for my visa debit branch number or something like that. When I hesitated, the guy got quite rude real quick. Then he wanted me to read out the numbers on my card word for word. Be careful, folks, sounds fishy to me!

I got a call about some fraud or something, said there was a foreign transaction on my Barclaycard. When I asked if it was definitely on my account, she said yes. I told her I dont even have a Barclaycard account though. Then she just hung up on me. Pretty weird behaviour if you ask me.

Got a call from some scammer pretending to be from Visa. The bloke had an Asian accent and kept calling me Mr (my first name) which felt a bit dodgy right from the off. Didn't hang about before I threw some colourful English insults his way. Definitely a scammer, avoid!

I got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Media. The bloke spoke with a thick Indian accent. He told me someone was apparently using my Wi-Fi from outside my house. I told him I didn’t buy it and to remove me from their call list, then not to bother calling back. He started to argue, so I just kept telling him the same and then hung up. Like Virgin Media would waste time on calls like that. I was pretty sure it was just a scam to trick me into giving info.

This number 01212853945 kept calling me loads over the past couple of days, like about 5 times now. The person on the phone had an Indian type accent and wanted to chat about my BT Internet at home. But as soon as I told them I don’t even use BT for internet, they just hung up straight away. Pretty odd really.

These lot called me at 2:02 in the afternoon, claiming there was some dodgy transaction on my VISA card. I told them I’d already looked up their number online and knew it was a scam, then they just hung up. Later at 3:37, the same number popped up again, this time saying there was an issue with my BT Open Reach line. I said the same thing about googling their number and, of course, they cut the call dead!

Got a call from someone saying they were Peter Cross from California asking for £600, sounded like one of those Visa scams. I ended up ringing my bank to make sure, and luckily they confirmed it was a scam. Always good to double check stuff like this!

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from Visa's security team - seemed dodgy to me! She wanted me to confirm a charge on my card. With all the recorded messages I’ve had recently, I reckon it’s just another trick to catch you off guard. These scammers are the worst kind of scum. Don’t be fooled, everyone. If anything feels off, just end the call and ring your bank yourself straight away.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from the fraud department regarding my debit card. They mentioned that my card had been used internationally, which immediately raised my suspicions. When I expressed my frustration and raised my voice, she had the audacity to tell me to calm down and that she was there to assist, assuring me the conversation was being recorded. I couldn't resist telling her where to stick her recording before hanging up. It's clearly a scam, folks; don’t let yourselves be taken in by these tactics!

I received a call claiming to be from Virgin Media, stating that my internet security had been breached. They inquired whether my computer was switched on, to which I replied negatively. Then they insisted that I power it up, but I explained I was unable to do so at that moment. The caller then asked for my mobile number, but I mentioned that it wasn't functioning. At that point, they accused me of being dishonest. I firmly told them not to speak to me in such a disrespectful manner and informed them that I would be lodging a complaint with Virgin Media. They abruptly ended the call without another word.

I got a call from some woman claiming my Visa card had been charged for a big payment to someone in the States. She said it wasn’t the first time there’d been weird activity on it recently. She asked if I’d given my card details to anyone or let someone else use it. Then she wanted to know if I’d made any purchases on Amazon or eBay recently. She even asked where I keep my card at home. That’s when I told her I thought it was a dodgy call and just ended the call.

So, my dad, who’s 88, got a call from a bloke with an Indian/Asian accent saying he was from the bank’s fraud department. Apparently, there was some dodgy stuff happening with his account. I, his daughter, grabbed the phone and asked the guy for his full name and a contact number. He gave me his name but told me the number was unnecessary. I wasn’t convinced, so I just hung up. Pretty clear it was a scam!
