It was some sales call. They wanted to know my name, where I lived, how old I was. Then went on about house ownership, energy providers, life insurance and whatnot. I said I was in my 60s just to mess about, gave them made-up answers for 5 minutes. Eventually, the bloke figured it out and just ended the call.

This is definitely a scam call! I've reported it already and I think everyone should do the same. Just type 'action fraud' into Google, go to the 'police.uk' site, find the 'report' button, pick the phishing option from the dropdown, then scroll down beyond the email scam details to send your report. You don't even need to sign up. Blocking numbers is pointless because these scammers have endless phone numbers and most phones or apps can only block a certain amount before the feature stops working.
