Without a doubt, this is a scam, especially if you've had no contact with the police. They spoof the number and rang me up. When I told them I wasn’t who they were looking for, they asked for my name, and as soon as I said no, they threatened to break in and then hung up. They kept calling from loads of different numbers, even pretending to be from the ambulance service, all within minutes. Don’t be fooled by these lot, and never share your details with them.

Honestly, they come across as useless most of the time - no respect, no real professionalism, and they always seem to think they’re above everyone else. When I phoned back, the operator couldn’t find any record of a reason for the call and said the number that called me wasn’t on their system. If they call again, I’ll ask for their name, badge number, which station they’re from, and what crime reference it’s about. I’d tell others to do the same and be careful not to share any info.
