Claimed to be from BT, insisting there were viruses on our router! He said he could rectify the issue if I powered up my computer, otherwise BT would supposedly dispatch a technician to my premises - which he conveniently knew! Quite convincing and could easily trick someone. I kept him on the line for a while before cutting him off. Definitely don’t fall for their nonsense!

If the person ringing is legitimate, they typically leave a message on the answering machine; otherwise, it's just silence.
