I was just relaxing in my room when this number popped up on my phone. Didn’t think much of it at first, but then outta nowhere MatPat shows up and starts explaining some mad theory about, well, you know, taking it in the rear. He then went ahead and got a bit hands-on. I was totally baffled but not gonna lie, it was kinda fun. After that, he went on about what happens after, you know, finishing inside someone and then just bounced. Now every time I see this number, I brace myself for whatever wild “theory” he’s got lined up next.

This bloke kept ringing me up, speaking with an Indian accent, saying I had some malware problem and claiming to be from Global Protect. Problem is, I’ve never even heard of Global Protect, let alone use it! He just wouldn’t stop pestering me. Proper pain in the neck, that one.

He rang me a couple times claiming to be from Microsoft. I told him straight up, that’s a load of rubbish and he was only trying to scam me to get into my computer. Had this guy calling with a weird foreign accent, sounded like he was from Asia or somewhere. I kept him on the line for a good 10 minutes while pretending to be booting up my computer. Truth was, I was brushing my teeth, giving the cat some food, and grabbing a cake from the oven all at the same time. Once I got tired of messing about, I simply ended the call. Before long, he rang back, and this time my husband picked up and asked him straight out what company he was from. The guy hung up right away.

Received a rather peculiar phone call regarding an accident I supposedly had. When I informed the caller that I hadn’t been involved in any incident, the conversation seamlessly shifted to my so-called house insurance. To which I replied that I didn’t have such a thing either. Following that, he casually mentioned it was merely a survey and promised I’d receive a follow-up call from a supervisor within the hour. Upon expressing my disinterest, he threatened me with a £500 fine for not participating in this 'no obligation' survey. I mentioned I had recorded our chat and that I intended to report it to the police. At that point, he hastily wrapped up the call. Quite the experience!

They called and my partner asked them to ring back in half an hour to talk to me. When they did, it was a man claiming to be from Windows, saying my server was infected with loads of viruses that would damage my PC. I was curious what he wanted, so I let him continue. He told me to open my 'event viewer' and read out what it showed. I said no and hung up, but later had a look myself. Nothing wrong with my computer at all. WATCH OUT, they’re trying to get into your machine. I’d recommend not sharing any info with strangers who call you.

Someone called saying my laptop had a virus on Microsoft Word. When I asked more questions they gave me vague answers. I told them I don’t even use Microsoft Windows on my PC and they just suddenly hung up. No apology or anything, just fraudsters. Don’t give them any info, they’re just trying to scam you.

I got a call from a guy who sounded like he was from abroad, maybe Asian or something. He was saying there was some big issue with my laptop! Thing is, I don’t even own a laptop. I told him that and mentioned I’m registered with TPS so he shouldn’t be calling me at all. He kept going on though, so I just said bye and ended the call.

So, I just had a rather dubious phone call from someone claiming to be a chap named Mark, supposedly representing Microsoft Windows. He was going on about my computer being infected with a virus! Now, as much as I’d love to be a tech wizard, I’m really far from it, so I just said I wasn’t available and asked him to ring me another time. It didn't sit right with me, and I quickly realised it was a scam. Felt it was important to share this to warn others!

Soon after, I kept getting calls pushing stuff I neither need nor want. I told every caller what I'd done and most just hung up. One exception was a major UK charity, who rudely said I was wasting their time and cash. Maybe if more of us did this, their funds would run dry.

Got a call from 0121 212 1212 claiming to be from openreach, saying they could lower my line rental. Kept hassling me with questions, but I told them I’d look into it myself. Then they asked if I had a bill, I said no 'cause mine’s paperless. This was on 18.06.16 at about 14:42. They just wouldn’t take no for an answer... what a muppet.

Got calls from this number like 6 times today and whenever I picked up, nobody said a thing. The day before that, I spoke to a bloke with an Indian accent from the same number. I explained I'm disabled and asked nicely if they could stop calling me and take my number off their list, but he just flat out refused. It's really been getting to me, so much so I've unplugged my landline just to keep them from bothering me. They're making me proper stressed out. They were asking for someone with a name similar to mine but never said what for or who they actually were. Watch out, they won’t quit until they trick you into giving out your info. Since yesterday, I've had at least twelve calls from this number. They say they've just got a couple of quick questions for me and promise not to bother me after that. I keep getting calls from this survey company and ive told them loads of times to take me off their list but they never do. The only thing that worked for me was to actually take the survey and give nonsense answers! Like saying I’m unemployed, dont watch TV, no papers, no family (so no need for life insurance), no driving licence (so no car or insurance, no accidents), no computer or internet, no sky, basically nothing at all. This number calls me almost everyday. When I ask where they got my details, they just drop the call. They claim to be calling about lowering landline fees and want me to answer some questions. I've told them loads of times to quit calling and that they shouldn’t be calling me in the first place, but they just ignore it. If you can block numbers or have caller ID, definitely block this lot.

I've never seen telephone scammers this persistent before. A BIG TIP OFF is if you hang up on them, they'll call you again and again since scam call centres, even overseas in places like Bangladesh, have the resources for that. These callers are the ones gathering leads for the actual scam operations. Don't expect much help from Action Fraud if you fall victim; they mostly just collect info. Best of luck out there.

I let him carry on for a bit (he was weirdly asking about the key next to my ctrl, which was odd) then told him he’d got the wrong place - I work at a cyber security firm. Asked him for his Microsoft staff ID to prove he was legit. He just made a random number up, which I kept challenging, and then he got proper narky, called me names and hung up. Kinda wish he hadn’t, I was actually having a laugh messing with him. Anyway, don’t give these people any of your details.

Got a call from someone checking my name, address, DOB and which bank I use, saying they’re sending me £3000 for dodgy bank fees from the past 20 years. Earlier today, I had a call from Barbara Gordon on 01263 078939 saying I was owed this cash. Sounds fishy to me, especially when the second person asked if I could physically go to the bank to deposit the cheque. Feels like one of those scams where they send the cheque, then ask for the money back because of some mistake or cancel the cheque later on? Definitely not trusting it.
