Got a call from a Birmingham number, was just a recorded message about some car crash. Pretty annoying and felt like a scam to me.

Its just an automated robo caller trying to chase ambulance claims. The best way to handle it is to play along and get passed to a real person on the other end. Then just waste as much of their time as possible. Hopefully if enough folks do this, their whole scam falls apart.
