I received an automated phone call claiming that a payment of £600 had been processed from either my Visa or MasterCard to a foreign account. The message prompted me to press 1 if I hadn't given my consent for this transaction. I hung up straight away and got in touch with my card issuers, all of whom assured me that no such payment had been made, confirming that the call was a fraudulent attempt. When I tried to return the call, I was met with a 'number unobtainable' message. A quick search revealed on the With site that this type of scam had been quite prevalent last year.
