So, 0121 is definitely the code for Birmingham, but the digits after it in that supposed number just don't add up - real Birmingham numbers don’t start with a 1. As of now, there’s no official word from Ofcom about changing that rule for any part of the UK. Most likely, the number’s just a spoof; it’s super simple for scammers to fob you off with fake caller IDs these days. If the call was genuine, it would show a proper number that fits the pattern. Since it doesn’t, it’s best to just hang up and not waste time answering.
