I received a call from a gentleman speaking with a strong Asian accent, claiming to be from a firm named "White Goods Repair" located in Luton. He informed me that the warranty on my Indesit washing machine had run out and asked if I was interested in extending it. It was obvious to me that it was a scam, so I decided to have a bit of fun-I feigned poor connection and kept him chatting until I got bored. Eventually, I unleashed a torrent of colourful language before hanging up on him!

It doesn’t appear to be an 02 or 03 number, so perhaps these scammers are trying out new strategies. I could hardly decipher what the bloke was on about, so I ended the call. After scanning through some other folks’ remarks, it seems this might be linked to that dubious white goods insurance racket. A few months back, I had a similar encounter with a chap named Martin (if his accent is anything to go by, I doubt that’s his proper name) who claimed to be from D&G, supposedly calling to discuss my insurance renewal. It makes me question how he was aware that my tumble dryer coverage had just lapsed. He wouldn’t stop prattling on, and somehow I ended up staying on the line. It only dawned on me it was a scam when he started asking for my banking information, at which point I promptly hung up.

Got a call earlier saying my washing machine insurance had expired (which I never even bought), and they wanted to renew it for me. I asked them to send the info by post instead. The lady tried to explain more but I said there was no need since everything should be in the letter. Ended the call there. Some woman called me saying my washing machine warranty was up. The thing is, I don’t even have a warranty on it! She offered to renew it for just £6.99. I hung up on her two times, but she kept calling back. Then she tried saying they had a special deal for retirees near me and asked for my birthday. I asked if she already knew I was retired or if she was just making a guess! She was really pushy about it. I ended up hanging up a fourth time and luckily, she didn’t call again after that!

This morning at 09:40, I received a call from some bloke named "Leo" who apparently felt it necessary to inform me that my warranty on my household appliances was no longer valid. Given that my washing machine and dishwasher have been around for nearly two decades, I wasn't in the least bit surprised. I was just roused from sleep when the call came through, and let's just say my response wasn’t exactly polite. One would think they’d bother to check their records before launching such a ridiculous campaign. To be honest, it's been a good eight or nine years since I last encountered this sort of nonsense. They always seem to presume that anyone over 70 must have lost their marbles!
