Got a robocall from "Jane at the heat loss team" or something like that. As soon as it started, I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away. This is the 5th time I've had to block a number from this dodgy outfit. Really glad Offcom is cracking down on these annoying scam callers.

Had a call from a #### at 1 in the morning and then again just 10 minutes later. I was honestly fearing something terrible had gone wrong. Now I’m wide awake with only about 5 hours till I gotta be up for work. So annoyed!

Got a call on my home phone from an Asian woman trying to talk me into fixing my Hotpoint fridge freezer - which I don't even own. Had a bit of fun messing with her, ended up calling her a leech, and she just hung up on me.

Then they asked if I was his daughter, which felt a bit off because I’m his carer and no one but official groups should know that. They mentioned something about him maybe qualifying for an emergency alert gadget, calling it a "Medical Alert System". Since he already uses one, I just hung up and let his provider know about the call. They really appreciated the heads up and said they’d look into it.

Got a call this morning, 13th December, about 9am. They wanted to chat with Mr ---- (who passed away 8 years ago). Then they started pushing some boiler insurance deal for just £1.99 a month. When I asked which company the insurance was with, there was a bunch of hesitations and pauses before she finally said “Homesure”. I told her I’d never heard of that company. Then I mentioned the boiler was already insured through the original installer. After some more awkward silences and mumbling, she just hung up. Pretty clear it was a scam.

Mentioned the boiler’s already covered by the firm that fitted it. More awkward pauses followed by her suddenly hanging up. Pretty clear this was a SCAM.

Got a call from an Asian guy asking about my girlfriend’s name and asking if we wanted to renew some kind of boiler insurance with a 30% discount. He said it was for our central heating, but my girlfriend said she doesn’t have any deal with them since we always use our own engineer. I asked him to give me a reference number for any contract we supposedly have, but he couldn’t provide one. After that, I just ended the call.

They somehow had my full name and where I live. They offered to extend the warranty on my washing machine at no cost for two years. Funny enough, my washer's 13 years old and its warranty expired ages ago, like back in 2011, so good luck with that! I didn’t agree to confirm my address. To be honest, the woman on the phone was quite polite, just said thanks and then ended the call.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who said his name was Peter. He somehow knew my name already. He claimed he was calling to extend the warranty on my fridge freezer. I asked him what brand it was, and he said Beko. I told him I don’t own a Beko fridge freezer at all and then I ended the call. Now I’ve blocked that number.

Got a call first thing in the morning - they already knew my name which really freaked me out. Could hear typical scam background noise, but the caller sounded more convincing than usual. I told him to stop calling and hung up, but a minute later he rang back, asking sharply, “Are you Mrs x? Who is this?” I lost it and told him to get lost before slamming down the phone again. Proper dodgy and quite hostile. Watch out for these sorts!

I received a rather dubious call from a gentleman purporting to be Jack, supposedly from a boiler maintenance company. His heavy Asian accent made it somewhat tricky to understand him. He was rambling on about the expenses involved in boiler servicing, but quite frankly, I wasn't in the least bit inclined to entertain his pitch.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to offer an Emergency Button service for elderly folks at home. Never heard of that one before, as usually it’s some dodgy investment or benefits scam. Asked about the cost and he said it’s free for the first month, then £24.99 every month after that. Unsurprisingly, he wanted my card details right away to start the “free trial” so I told him no thanks and ended the call. Sounds pretty risky, especially for older people who might get taken in by it. Tried calling the number back, but just got a dead tone - typical for these scam calls.

Cheers for the heads up! Got a call on my BT landline from a bloke with a foreign accent asking for me by name, going on about some fake Warranty. I cut him off dead in his tracks - total rubbish, proper scam stuff. Reported it straight to BT.com/scams. These scammers should be banned and put behind bars.
