Phone number ☎️ 01208340780 👆 is reported as a persistent and aggressive scam targeting individuals with threatening calls claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The callers use automated messages featuring a female voice, often with an American accent, demanding urgent contact regarding alleged unpaid taxes and warning of arrest, court action, or asset seizure. Scammers sometimes provide familiar names like "Heather Grey" to appear credible and may possess limited personal details, likely obtained via data breaches. These calls often urge victims to pay immediately or provide voucher PINs, aiming to exploit fear and confusion. HMRC confirms it will only contact by letter, never by phone. Recipients are strongly advised to ignore, block, and report these calls to Action Fraud or local police, especially to protect vulnerable or elderly individuals.

Today, one of our overseas students received a rather alarming phone call in which they were threatened with arrest for reasons that remain unclear. Fortunately, they were interrupted before any demands for money could be made, thanks to our Careers Manager stepping in. The phone number showed up as a legitimate HMRC landline, but it turns out this is just a ruse.

On Wednesday, I got an automated call from someone claiming to be HMRC, left on my voicemail telling me to urgently get in touch with Heather Grey. They said it was really important and that I might face legal trouble and need a lawyer. Seems like the usual scam stuff I’ve seen here before, but it still freaks me out a bit as it’s quite unsettling. Does anyone know if there’s a way to report these scams properly?

Got a recorded call from 01208340780 on June 4th at 6:56pm. It sounded like an automated message. Honestly, I doubt HMRC operates on a Saturday! They said it was urgent and kept mentioning lawyers, telling me to call Officer Heather Grey. The voice sounded American and finished with 'Goodbye and take care!!!' Seemed really dodgy to me.

Got a voicemail from 01208340780 on June 4th around 6.56pm, and it was some automated message. Pretty sure HMRC doesn’t operate on a Saturday though! The message said it was urgent and brought up lawyers, telling me to call some Officer Heather Grey. The voice sounded American and the message ended with “Goodbye and take care!” - felt a bit dodgy to me.

On Saturday, the 4th of June in 2016 at approximately quarter past three, I received a rather dodgy call. The individual on the line claimed to be from Her Majesty’s Customs, but honestly, it felt as if I was conversing with someone submerged in water. The caller identified herself as Tammy Grey, but I couldn’t help but feel that something was off about the whole situation.

Why do phone companies even let these dodgy scam calls through?? Its so frustrating and dangerous :(

I received a rather unclear message on my voicemail, urging me to get in touch with a certain number. The voice claimed to be one Officer Susan Brown, conducting a criminal probe on behalf of HMRC. After using the 1471 service, I managed to retrieve the number and gave them a ring. She prattled on quite a bit, but the crux of the conversation revealed that I supposedly owed £3980 in tax dating back to 2013, with a threat that all of my assets would be put on hold during their investigation. When I requested clarification regarding the tax details, she accused me of being excessively rude and warned that she'd dispatch a police officer to apprehend me. Honestly, these individuals must be dealt with. It's clearly a fraudulent operation, but what are they hoping to achieve? It baffles me that anyone would actually fall for this and hand over their money.

Some person named Isis gave me a ring trying to flog 155 butt plugs and a rubber dildo for like £6,999,000 - apparently to fund buying 35 turbans, some dodgy adult videos, and a bloody camel or something. Total bollocks!

Got a call from Mary Jones claiming I owed £4268 to the tax people and that the police were coming to arrest me. Said I could go to prison for 5 years and that my bank accounts were frozen and they’d repossess my house. Total scam. Make sure you tell the police about it.

I had a call from someone saying they were from "HM Revenue" telling me I owed £3999 in unpaid taxes and that by 2pm it would jump to £25000, and I’d be arrested and could do 5 years in prison!!! He asked what I planned on doing, so I asked if he really expected me to pay, and he said “I’m not here to take your money but it’s up to you!!!” I hung up and called back, then got a "Rebecca Woods" who seemed pissed off when I mentioned her name sounded quite Western for someone who had an Indian accent. She then just cut the call.

Hello! I received a rather bizarre call from this number today, claiming that I owe HMRC a whopping £32,000 😂 It honestly put me in a bit of a spin. What on earth possesses these individuals to pull such stunts? It’s outrageous! They’re nothing but scammers and really ought to be dealt with by the authorities.

I recently received a call from individuals claiming to be from HMRC. Unfortunately, I missed the call, but they left a rather drawn-out message from someone named Heather. Curious, I checked my voicemail, then decided to ring back the number provided. To my disbelief, they started threatening me with arrest and court appearances, insisting the police would be in touch. Initially, I was taken in by their spiel until they offered a settlement right then and there to avoid court. I quickly realised it sounded fishy, expressed my doubts, and hung up without a second thought.

Got calls from them a few times now. It’s some automated voice claiming to be a Heather Grey from HMRC but with a totally American accent. The language they use sounds really American too. They keep saying you need to call back quickly because HMRC wants to talk about something urgent. What a load of nonsense and a complete waste of time from idiots.

Got a call from them, really pushy and claiming that the Police had issued a warrant over unpaid taxes from 2012 for £4,500. They wanted me to pay up straight away and got quite hostile when I hesitated. The number showed up as somewhere in Bodmin which felt off, so I just hung up. What was creepy though, was how much personal info they already had, made it sound real at first.

This afternoon, my wife received a rather alarming call regarding unpaid taxes and the like. The person on the line became increasingly confrontational when she mentioned that I could be contacted for more information. After five minutes of what felt like an interrogation, she hung up in a fluster. I can’t help but worry that this might end up being a costly affair. Fingers crossed!

HI EVERYONE!! JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS! I decided to give them a ring from a private number and after about 20 minutes talking, they admitted it was a SCAM. They said they got my info from hacks on sites that store my data and from the Council’s records. Apparently, they bought those details on the black market or Darknet. Luckily, all they have are names, a few postcodes and phone numbers - just enough to trick anyone into thinking the call is genuine!

Got a robocall from someone called Heather Grey warning me my car would be taken if I didn’t answer their urgent call. They spoke really slowly with a weird American accent, claiming to be from HM Revenue & Customs plus some place called Heartlands. I called the tax office up and they told me it’s a total scam. They said the crooks try to trick you into buying vouchers, then ask for the codes to steal them. I’ve reported it to the police now, hopefully they’ll catch these scammers before they can fool anyone else.

A deep, slow robotic voice from a woman claiming to be from HM Revenue telling me to ring back as it’s urgent. She said not to ignore it, very time critical. This number got in touch with a mate of ours who's 89 and was quite menacing. When I rang back, I spoke with an Asian bloke saying he was from HMRC and working in London. I asked why he was in London when the number showed a Cornwall area code and pushed him until he admitted he was really in Pakistan. He just chuckled when I said HMRC doesn’t have call centres over there. I told him it was a con and hung up.

I got the same message on my home phone like others have said. I rang back cause I was a bit scared but the number wasn’t in service anymore. So I checked here and realised it’s a scam. Really hope the police crack down on this, it sounds pretty intimidating and could freak out anyone who doesn't know about these scams.

I had quite a harrowing experience today! A voice on the line claimed I owed £4,000 in unpaid income tax and threatened that if I didn’t settle up immediately, the police would be at my door, ready to cart me off to jail. As a single parent who's just starting to find my feet after a rough patch with depression, this threw me for a loop. The caller insisted that I shouldn’t involve anyone else, which really set off alarm bells in my head. In a bit of a panic, I ran next door to my neighbour after I hung up. Thankfully, he took charge and sorted things out. Honestly, I'm still reeling from it all. You wouldn't believe the state it left me in! 😢

So this bloke from India rang me up with a thick accent, saying something about "jack Russel". I told him off and said don't call again, but then he started shouting all sorts of horrible swear words at me like "you f###ing b###h, I’ll ring when I want?!?" Is that even legal? Surely the cops can do something about this kind of abuse?

Yeah, same here, that number’s blocked. If HMRC or any official agency needs to contact you, they’ll send a letter, no need to answer these calls. Definitely a scam, dont bother calling back.

A mate of mine got a call from this daft lot the other day. She didn’t pick up, but when they rang again the following day, she thought, “Blimey, this might actually be something important, how foolish of me!” Now, she’s a widow, sharp as a tack, and with plenty of common sense, so she handed off the nonsense to her son. He’s taken the right steps to report it. She’s spreading the word about this number in our area, and I’m doing the same.

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be Officer Hedda Gray at HMRC. The voice was robotic and had an American accent, threatening me that either I or my "appointed" lawyer had to ring their hotline 01208340780 right away because it was "time critical". They said I absolutely SHOULD NOT ignore the call and had to get in touch immediately or else there would be consequences. I didn’t respond because it's obviously a scam.

I received a rather concerning phone call at precisely 2:59 pm on the 23rd of May, 2016. A woman named Heather Grey claimed to represent HMRC - that’s Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, for those unacquainted. She insisted that the very moment I heard her message, either I or my solicitor ought to ring back immediately. Apparently, there was something to do with returning subsidies. It was quite the ominous warning-she stressed not to ignore the message and to reach out before they decided to escalate matters against me. Quite a peculiar and unsettling encounter, to say the least. Farewell and stay safe.

Got a voicemail on my landline from someone named Heather Grey. My wife heard it and told me about it. When I tried calling back from my mobile, it went to a menu asking me to choose a language. Ringing from the house phone just gave a busy signal, but eventually someone answered. The way they spoke felt off, like a scam. They claimed I owed money to the tax office but kept using American words which didn’t feel right for the UK. I told them to send any legitimate documents if they had any. Definitely won’t be calling back.

Just like others mentioned, I got four calls from them too - two on the 20th and another two yesterday left on my voicemail. I decided to look them up because something felt off. Really appreciate everyone flagging this as a scam. The calls were pretty intimidating and unpleasant, so I’m relieved some have gone to the police about it. This kind of scam is proper harassment and needs to be put to an end. Honestly, how do they expect to grab something from people without giving anything back?!
