I got a call from a woman named Mary, sounded like she had a Chinese accent, claiming to be from BT Security. I suspected it was a scam when she hung up as soon as I questioned her further. When I asked where she was calling from, she said 81 Newgate Street, London EC1A 7AJ, giving me a contact number of 0800 800152, which turns out to be BT Centre’s real number. But the call came from 0120 832 7833. This is actually the third time in three days I’ve received a similar call.

I received a rather dubious call from a lady named Mary, who had a noticeable Chinese accent, claiming to represent BT Security. It quickly became apparent that it was a con; she abruptly hung up when I started pressing her for details. When I inquired about her location, she provided an address: 81 Newgate Street, London EC1A 7AJ. Interestingly, she quoted the number 0800 800152, which actually belongs to the BT Centre in London. However, the number from which she was calling was 0120 832 7833. This is the third time I’ve encountered such a call in just three days!
