If you get any dodgy calls or think a number might be a scam, make sure you report it straight to the police database. Just search for 'action fraud' and head over to the official UK police website. From there, find the phishing report section and stick around till you reach the bottom where you can file your report. Honestly, this is really the best way to help put an end to these scams.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said he was from Virgin Media and wanted to give me a special deal. Felt a bit iffy about it, so I said no cheers. Then he asked what I was paying at the moment, but as soon as I said I wasn’t convinced he was legit, he just cut the call straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2, asking if I was having problems with my signal and where I was located. When I said I wasn’t with O2, they suddenly got rude and insisted my number was definitely with them. I just laughed and told them again who my provider is. Then they called me a B**ch and ended the call. Total scam.

They had a really thick Indian or Pakistani accent and kept jabbering about some kind of "promotion." Didn’t want to hang around for any of that unsolicited stuff, so I just ended the call.

There was this guy calling, trying to hide who he was. When I said the number was for a kid and he should take it off their list, he just told me to f*** off - but super quietly at first, so I wasn’t sure if I’d heard right. I asked him to say it again and sure enough, he repeated it loud and clear. After a bit of back and forth with some choice words from me, I ended the call and blocked the number. Honestly, don’t waste your time with these lot.

Got a ring from a number flagged as ####, looks like it's coming from somewhere in India. Feels like some dodgy bloke just climbed outta the gutter and landed in a call centre near Delhi. Watch out for this one - they’re pretending to be Carphone Warehouse but it’s just a total scam, run by some bloody muppet!

Got a ring from 01208 247981 and it was a lady at first claiming to be from Virgin, telling me about a 30% cut on my bill. She said I couldn’t chat and to ring her back, which she then did, but this time a bloke answered. Both had pretty strong Indian accents. The line was really crackling, which seemed odd for Virgin. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with what they were asking, and he reckoned I’d get another call the next day at 10am regarding my account and the discount... yeah, nah, not buying it!

Some bloke called claiming he was Danny from Currys PC World and said he had a special deal just for me. Thing is, he couldn’t even tell me my name, didn’t know my number, and didn’t even bother to give me his own. Really makes you wonder how it was meant to be a 'personalised' offer...
