Got a call from someone saying they were from the Postcode Lottery, offering a 40% discount card for supermarkets and eating out. They asked for an age group and said I’d won a two-week holiday with flights anywhere in Europe. Then asked if I wanted to activate the card and claimed I’d won an extra £300 that needed to be sent to my bank. When asked for my account details I gave the name 'James Brown'. The lady on the line then said thanks for wasting her time, so I told her cheers for wasting mine :)

Some firm rang claiming my area had won a voucher for half-price shopping and since I'm supposedly in my 30s (which I'm definitely not), I was also eligible for a 2-week villa trip in Europe. They said they wouldn’t need sensitive info like my full card number but asked for my bank account number and sort code to send a £1 test payment to confirm who I am. I kept them on the phone for ages before saying I’d done it, hoping to put off them reaching more gullible folks. Proper scam, no doubt about it.
