Had a rather bothersome cold call today. The chap on the other end claimed he had sourced my details from the national accident helpline, saying I might’ve had an accident in the last couple of years. I promptly told him that his claims were utter nonsense since I haven't been in any accident whatsoever. I made it clear that he was infringing on the data protection laws by misusing information he had no right to access. When I inquired about the location of his office, he seemed rather evasive and wouldn't disclose where they were based. I let him know that I suspected him of fraudulent activity and that I'd escalate this issue. In the background, it was evident that he was surrounded by numerous other callers doing the same thing. It’s absolutely appalling that these individuals are allowed to operate with such blatant disregard for the rules.
