I received a telephone call from a gentleman sporting a rather pronounced Indian accent. He claimed to represent a company named Home Appliance, trying to sell me a washing machine cover for the bargain price of £6.99 monthly. When I politely declined, he probed for my reasons. Curiosity got the better of me, and I asked him where he was calling from. He asserted it was the UK, and upon pressing further, he mentioned England. I probed again for a town, and he replied Boston, to which I inquired about the respective county. At that point, he abruptly ended the call. It was quite apparent that he was just as uninterested in our little exchange as I was! Clearly, this was a rather obvious scam attempt.

I received a call from a woman who had a noticeable foreign accent, claiming she was inquiring about my central heating and boiler systems. When I informed her that I didn’t actually possess either, she seemed quite taken aback, responded with a quick “oh, alright then” and promptly hung up. Quite the peculiar interaction!

Got a call from a bloke named Oliver and another young fella with an Asian accent from 01207 240217 on the 29th June 2022 around 11:36. He claimed to be from some Home Appliance Insurance firm. He asked if he was speaking to me by name, but when I asked who he was, I didn’t give away any details. He started going on about insurance for my fridge freezer, even though I told him I have separate fridge and freezer units. He kept on arguing about what appliances I’ve got. Eventually, I told him to shove off in no uncertain terms and just ended the call.

Got a call from these guys - all I got was silence. Seems they’re from South Wales, something about Britain Stronger in Europe, but they didn’t sound like they had a clue about what they were meant to be doing. I heard they’re ringing everyone on the electoral register with some survey. Kinda funny they were pretending to call from a local number! When I phoned back on a different line, they were really rude, telling me what to do like I owed them. Ended up reporting the silent calls to Ofcom.

Seems like just another scam to me. Make sure you block numbers like this if your phone has that feature.
