Got a call from a lady saying she was with Eco Home Advice and wanted to set up a free survey for my house. She sounded nice, but I wasn’t totally sure about what she was offering. It had the classic red flags for me - she kept going on about how fibreglass or wool insulation could cause dampness, said the inspector would carry some sort of damp meter, and then their “fix” would be spraying something on the roof. Didn’t really trust it.

Got a call the other day from a live person with a British accent trying to sell some insulation. They clearly disregarded the TPS opt-out list, so I went ahead and reported them to tpsonline.org. I also made a report to ico.org.uk. Just a heads up to everyone, make sure you do the same and pick the ‘i was distressed’ option when reporting.

A while back I got tricked by some dodgy firm, so I’m quite cautious now. Recently, I got a call from Eco Home Advice about a free home insulation survey. I’m still a bit suspicious after my last experience, but they seemed genuine.

Got a call from someone called Jamie who kept bothering my 90 year old mum. She tried hanging up the first time, but he phoned back less than 15 minutes later and just wouldn’t let her speak. It’s tough for older folk to be blunt and cut him off, but honestly, he was so pushy and wouldn’t accept 'no' at all. Really best to stay well clear of him.

I got a call from a guy who said he was from some energy saving firm - something about insulation and checking for damp. He was really persistent and when I asked which company he was with, he just wouldn’t say. After I asked again, he just hung up. Best to steer clear of them, they bombard you with loads of confusing technical stuff and try to trick you with their advice. Properly pushy lot.

Got a call from someone saying they were with ecohome adviser. Was proper rude when i told him i’m registered with TPS and don’t want calls. He reckoned i’d somehow said it was alright to ring me, as he had my details from his firm. Felt really sketchy and like outright harassment.
