Some sort of call centre scammer I think. There was loads of background noise and ages of silence sometimes, then this person with really bad English kept fumbling their way through what seemed like a mobile phone network script. Very fishy.

I tried saying I was in the middle of something, but he kept pushing, saying it'd only take a moment. He wouldn't let me off till I said yes or no about reading a morning paper. I just hung up and blocked the number after that.

About 15 minutes back, I got a call from what seems to be an Essex area code, but I didn’t answer it.
