they kept ringing me a couple times, asking if they was speaking to Mr so and so, i told them yes then they just hung up. checked 1471 and said it was some sort of marketing firm.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from First Homes, asking for me by name. Our number was once registered under my late father-in-law and listed in the phone book, but it’s been ex-directory for more than three years now. I told the caller the number is ex-directory and asked him to take it off their records. He said he’d do that, so I ended the call.

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be with DMS, talking about some government scrappage scheme for old electrical kit and flat roofs. He asked if I had a flat roof, I said yeah. Then he goes on saying it’d only last 10 years. I asked him how he could be so sure about that. Told him he was talking nonsense and to stop messing about with people’s time.

Received a call today from someone who inquired about a name I didn't recognise. I told them that the individual wasn't at this address, and then they wanted to know if I was the homeowner. When I confirmed that I was, they promptly hung up. Quite odd, really!

I've received several calls from the number mentioned above. Today, after yet another unwelcome interruption, I decided to call it back. An automated voice message greeted me, claiming, "We are Database Marketing Solutions and we’ll ring you at another time." Frankly, I wish they wouldn’t bother! What really grates on my nerves is that the moment I pick up, the line goes silent. Surely, BT - the provider of this landline who's collecting rental fees - could take action to block such an annoying number? How many complaints must be lodged before BT takes notice? They seem to facilitate these bothersome calls, and it honestly puts me off using their services entirely, regardless of the appealing offers they promote for TV, mobile, and the like, which must cost them a fortune in advertising!
