Honestly, if cold calling was banned, tons of folks would end up on benefits for real. I know that if someone’s on benefits and they say no to a cold calling job, they can get their payments stopped and be left with nothing for ages. Just feels like these guys need a bit of understanding!

Got a call from Pipa at First Energy, she asked if I was under 70 and the homeowner. She then claimed she was ringing because I’d asked her to, about some solar energy offer. When I questioned where she’d got my details, she suddenly got really sorry and just hung up on me. Like others have said, my number is definitely on TPS and ex-directory. Got a ring from these lot wanting to speak to the ‘householder’. First thing I said was to ask who I was speaking to. She said 1st Energy from Colchester. I asked for their exact address and she just tried to locate it by saying, “Do you know where Yates Bar is? We're nearby." When I pushed for a proper address with a postcode, she claimed she didn’t know. Then she started reading from their usual script. I asked how they got my phone number and she replied “the UK database.” I mentioned I’m on the TPS and my number is ex-directory, to which she apologised and said she’d remove me. Asked to speak to a manager and, as expected, she just hung up. Caller’s name was Lola, 1st Energy, Colchester.

I just got a ring from someone named Holly who said she was from a firm called First/1st Energy over in Colchester. I’m on both the Phone Preference Service and the Directory, so this was completely out of order. Definitely going to report this lot to the ICO. The caller ID showed First Energy.

They rang me twice today - I missed the first call and thought it might be someone from Colchester, so I called back, but no one picked up. When I got back later, they phoned again. I didn’t catch what they said because they had a thick accent, and I just hung up straight away. I’m so fed up with these calls, especially when I was busy cooking tea! We’re on the TPS list, but still get loads of these annoying calls, so much that we leave the answerphone on just to avoid the hassle. Honestly, TPS feels pointless and it’s a nightmare trying to find anyone to actually complain to and get something sorted. Anyone talks about data protection and privacy is having a laugh. When the caller asked if he was the homeowner, he loudly said, “I’m 4!” The person on the other end then started swearing and yelling, “Don’t shout in my ear!” I managed to snatch the phone away just as they shouted back, “No need to shout at me, you f***ing idiot!” Then they cut the call. When I tried to call back, all I got was a busy signal. Properly annoyed! Whoever runs this company should be stopped!

Honestly, you’ve got to ask if it’s even worth them picking up the phone. Who on earth would bother dealing with this daft lot? It’s such a pain. I reckon if the staff gave a toss, they wouldn’t stick around in that place. With so many people having Narcisstic Personality Disorder trying to launch businesses these days, sadly you can’t expect much. On a public holiday Monday, I got a call from this number. I use the newest BT 8500 phones, and since they didn’t say who they were, I didn’t answer. It was annoying cos it woke me up! I've now blocked the number so it won’t bother me anymore. Just writing this and yep, they just called again. Honestly, if you get these phones, it’s worth it - you only need to block a number once and they’re done!
