someone rang me claiming to be from bt openreach, saying there was an issue with my phone line. i hadn’t noticed anything wrong and hadn’t made any complaints. he asked if he could link a bt server to my laptop to run some checks. i said that sounded risky and asked for his number so i could ring him later. he said he got why i was worried but insisted that connecting was the only way to find the fault.
