I've received a rather tiresome call from a chap named John representing Driveway Services. It seems he's taken it upon himself to be the persistent cold caller, ringing people left, right, and centre until he stumbles upon a potential sale. After a little back-and-forth, he inevitably hands off to his 'Manager' to seal the deal. I entertained John for a good ten minutes, firing off questions that clearly left him flummoxed. All I got in reply was, "My manager will clarify that when he reaches out." Eventually, I decided to have a bit of fun and let him know I was just pulling his leg before I ended the call. Honestly, John, why not seek a more legitimate vocation?

This nonsense about driveway repairs, loft insulation and panic alarms has to end. Got calls twice today from a Boston number, but I wasn’t home and neither time did they bother to leave a message. I don’t know anyone or anything linked to Boston, so I wouldn’t have picked up anyway. So now I’ve had to block yet another one. My blocked list just keeps growing! It’s so frustrating because, like others, I’ve always kept my number unlisted and am signed up with the TPS, yet these scam calls keep coming through. How on earth do they get hold of my private number? I hardly ever share it with people I don’t know personally.

I've put up a couple of posts explaining steps to cut down on these scam calls. It’s a bit of a hassle, but I’m sticking with it and regularly logging scam calls and messages on the police’s system. Still, it’s going to need loads of folks doing the same for real change to come about. Every day, loads of people are flagging scam calls here too. I got a reply from my MP which was quite interesting, but honestly, it'll need way more than just one person raising these issues to make any real difference.
