The caller claimed to be from Microsoft and told me my PC was hacked. He urged me to sit at the computer so he could fix it remotely. I calmly said I wasn’t convinced and then he just started shouting all kinds of rude insults at me.

I got a call from someone who sounded like they were calling from an Asian call centre. They said they were from BT and wanted to tell me about lowering my bill. They actually knew the initials of my name but still asked me for my first name. I just ended the call straight away.

I replied, "No, it’s not" (I never go by "Mrs"). They then asked, "Who is this?" so I said again, "Not Mrs [my surname]." There was a brief pause before the call was ended. It’s clear they had the subscriber’s name but didn’t really care who they were talking to - if they got the wrong person, they’d probably try their scam on whoever picked up. So, I’ve blocked the number now.
