There’s a bunch of scammers out of Calcutta using some dodgy software to make it look like they’re ringing from legit UK numbers. Their game? To nick your info and flog it off to big companies worldwide and major UK firms for peanuts, which soon stacks up. Plus, the data ends up in the hands of international crooks for all sorts of fraud and scams. Honestly, be careful, mate.

I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, talking about some fraud issue. They told me to press 1 to talk to an agent, but I didn’t do that. I hung around listening a bit more and then they started threatening me with arrest. Totally a scam - HMRC would never say stuff like that. I’m sure if I’d pressed 1, they'd have tried to extort money.
