Some woman named Jenny Appleby from Smith Clear Concept rang me up, asking if I’d been in an accident that wasn’t my fault or something. I told her that cold calling like that is against the law and I’d be reporting her to the authorities. She hung up straight away.

At first, I swear she said "Jenny from Scratch and Comfort," which sounded proper odd, but from what others are saying, it's actually Smith Clear Concept. I didn’t bother answering their first question. Instead, I just said, “Who gave you this number?” and they ended the call straight away. I never used to get calls like this before, but since I started working in accident investigations as a freelance data collector, they keep coming nonstop.

Somebody called asking about an accident I supposedly had (which I haven’t). I joked, “Which one? I’ve been in about 7 or 8 in the past few weeks!” They said the latest one, so I replied, “No way, I actually died in that one, maybe you mean a different one?” Shockingly, they asked me to hold while they looked into it, so I just left the phone on my desk and waited until they eventually hung up. 19/10/16 around 3:30pm.

I ended up here since I've been getting loads of calls from various numbers, but I'm pretty certain it’s the same firm. They keep banging on about 'accidents' I’m 'supposedly' linked to. When I correct them saying the details are wrong and that I don’t even have a car, they switch gears quickly, asking stuff like ‘Were you a passenger?’ or ‘Is there someone else in your house who’s been in a crash?’. Lately, I just hit back with, ‘I wouldn’t know, you tell me - you’re the ones with the “records”!’

My elderly father-in-law has been getting calls like this as well - even tho his number is ex-directory. These calls are just trying to fish out info. Honestly, they should be banned. They don’t keep any records as far as I can tell, and I reckon they just dial random computer-generated lists, hoping to catch someone who’s had an accident and wants to claim compensation!
