A few days ago, I received a phone call from an unknown number. The person on the other end claimed that they had finished conducting a PPI search for me and mentioned that there was a significant amount of money ready to be transferred to my bank account. However, something didn't sit right with me. Firstly, they only had my address which was approximately correct around eleven years ago. Secondly, I had never actually undergone a PPI check before as I hadn't taken out any loans or mortgages in the past 35 years. These inconsistencies made me suspicious of their intentions, so I decided to question them about their motives. To my surprise, the caller abruptly ended the call and hung up when I confronted them.

However, I'm not sure what steps to take to prevent these calls in the future.

When I asked them to confirm their identity, they simply repeated who they claimed to be. However, as soon as I mentioned that they had actually called me, they swiftly ended the call!
