Proper bullying behaviour, kept ringing my phone about four times when I didn’t pick up. They even said they’d called MBNA themselves to verify who they were, which was just stressful and annoying. I had to just hang up. These kinds of sites are really useful though, makes it easier to figure out who’s on the other end and dodge scams. If you’re unsure, better to check online or simply block the number straight away.

On the 28th of November, around lunchtime, I got a ring from this number. Their voice was really muffled like they were speaking through some sort of tin box, and you could hear loads of background noise, kinda like an office buzz. Then he passed the call onto someone else to get her account number, but that person didn’t have a clue about her details. So she ended the call, but that same guy rang back after just a minute. Just got a call on my mobile from a bloke asking if I’d gotten my PPI form yet. Told him straight away that I’ve never had PPI or taken out any loans, so he’s got the wrong person. I didn’t even let him finish before hanging up. There was this other time when a similar caller rang, and I kept asking him for my name over and over until he gave up and ended the call. My landline’s signed up to the telephone preference service, so I rarely get any pesky calls now. Used to get loads of junk emails too, but they seem to have stopped. I think the best way is just to ignore and be firm with anyone suspicious who calls - they’ll eventually stop bothering you. Hope this helps someone. SH P.S. Looks like this number belongs to HYC Ltd, which was once dissolved but has since been re-registered in Northern Ireland. According to Companies House, here’s what I found: The company’s details show the address as 14 Churchdale Meadows, Gortin, Omagh, Northern Ireland, BT79 8AZ, with company number NI614603. It’s currently active, having been registered on 24th September 2012. It’s a Private Limited Company based in the UK, but strangely, there’s no info about its business activities. The accounting reference date is the 30th of September. No accounts have been filed yet, with the next ones expected by 24th June 2014, and returns are due soon as well. Just thought I’d share in case anyone else gets a call from this number!

We’re based in the UAE and got a call from an Etisalat number (that’s the local government telco here). The call came through a couple of days ago, and when I tried calling back, an automated voice said something like, “Thanks for calling HYC UK, all our operators are busy, please hold for the next available agent.” I stayed on hold for about five minutes before they cut me off. Out of curiosity, I looked up the area code and saw it pointed to Bolton. Then I searched for HYC UK and discovered the company was actually dissolved back in 2005. I found a listing here: http://www.cdrex.com/hyc-uk-limited-4947506.html It shows the company was called HYC UK Limited, based in London with a registered address at Flat 4, Lanesborough Court, 1 Fanshaw Street, London N1 6AU. The company was incorporated in 2003 but officially dissolved in early 2005. Seems odd they’d still be answering calls...quite suspicious if you ask me.
