I just received a phone call from this firm, spinning the same old tale with some so-called "exclusive offer." I asked the woman on the line, named Sue, if she was familiar with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), given that our number is supposedly registered to avoid these nuisance calls. She claimed that all their calls are screened against the TPS list, and that numbers need to be re-registered every year to keep sales calls at bay! I grasped that this was nonsense, so I contacted the TPS myself, and they firmly assured me that this was simply untrue. The only scenario in which a residential number would be removed from their register is if the owner specifically asks for it. I can't stand companies like these that blatantly deceive and prey on those who are vulnerable.
