I got a call from 01202 497208, and when I checked "1471" it matched, but my call blocker showed a weird 13-digit number that’s popped up loads on shady calls before. A woman wanted to speak to my husband by name. I said, “Hold on a sec,” and quickly passed the phone to him, telling him, “If it sounds dodgy, give it back to me” (I’m way better at handling these dodgy calls). Maybe she caught that because she hung up straight away. No harm done.

Some muppet got round my BT call blocker by pretending they were about to say their name, but as soon as I picked up, BT's blocker announced "you have a call from" then just went dead. I wasn’t having any of it, so I blocked the number immediately and set the strictest call blocking mode, so only numbers saved in my contacts get through now. Honestly, I wish the government would actually step in, but knowing it’s the Tories who let these annoying calls run wild in the name of “competition” and consumerism, I doubt they care much at all!

Whenever I get calls from unknown numbers, I usually just reply with "what" since I only keep contacts saved that I know. This time, a lady took offence and told me I was being rude before hanging up on me. Well, that’s that. Hope they don’t ring me back again.

A few days ago, I got a call asking if I’d take part in a quick survey about things like life insurance, healthcare, boilers, and household appliances cover. I agreed and answered four questions. They mentioned they were running a survey around here and said I’d be entered into a prize draw for £100. They also said someone might contact me later to discuss ways to possibly save money on our bills.
