Take heed, folks! Quality Home Solutions, a bona fide enterprise based in Bournemouth, are peddling spray foam roof insulation. I had a rather unsettling phone call from the number 01202143973, where a woman, claiming to represent Hampshire Council, was keen to schedule a thermal imaging survey of our roof. She insisted it was part of a government initiative aimed at promoting energy efficiency, even mentioning various government grants. Today, a salesperson showed up at my door, but lo and behold, he didn't bring any thermal imaging gear. Instead, he had a gander in the loft and attempted to persuade us to invest in spray foam insulation priced at a staggering £6000! Mind you, our roof is already kitted out with 200mm of fresh fibreglass and 75mm of celotex between the rafters, making it essentially a warm roof that requires no further insulation whatsoever. When I probed him about the grants he mentioned, he confessed that what the government offers is merely tax relief on the VAT-not a proper grant at all. I strongly advise you to tread carefully with this company. They are clearly using deceptive tactics to gain access to homes under the guise of local council assistance, employing aggressive sales methods to secure their sales.

I'm rather puzzled by the calls I received as well. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the first chap's number, but he introduced himself as being from Quality Home Solutions and brought up Peterborough Council. Since I'm in Peterborough, I presumed it was related to my local council, which is why I arranged for a loft insulation assessment and quotation for tomorrow. Then there was a second gentleman who rang from the number 01202 403707. His main purpose was to verify the information the first man had recorded. He did, however, inquire about my employment status-whether I was working or retired. When I mentioned that I’m on disability benefits, he promptly cancelled the home visit! He explained that those who receive benefits are sent their information pack first before any home visits are scheduled. Quite baffling, really!

I feel a bit suspicious about a recent phone call I received. A gentleman identified himself as calling from Wiltshire Council regarding a loft insulation survey by Quality Home Solutions, which struck me as rather peculiar since the phone number was from Bournemouth. He mentioned that a representative from "the contractor" Home Quality Solutions would ring me back shortly to set up an appointment. Moments later, a "Declan" did indeed call me from another Bournemouth number (01202403707), yet he seemed rather unclear about the details of our supposed arrangement. When I tried to reach back on 01202143973, I was met with an answering machine featuring a strong American accent that I found quite off-putting. The other number, 01202403707, had a similar setup but put me on hold waiting for someone to assist, which makes me doubt the legitimacy of "Declan" as a representative of Quality Home Solutions.
