Over the course of two days, this number called me three times. A bloke called "Matthew" claimed that our roof insulation needed replacing pronto or else we’d end up with damp in the house. He wanted to set up a same-day appointment to sort it out. Problem is, our property is managed by a housing association, so any repairs have to go through them. He never said what company he was with, so I just hung up and blocked the number. Wouldn’t recommend sharing any details or your address with them!

Somebody rang me saying they were my "Local Energy Adviser" and asked if I owned the house. I told them it seemed unlikely considering their 01202 area code. They went completely quiet after that. This number has tried contacting me previously, and it’s definitely a dodgy insulation scam. They want you to let them put polyurethane foam under your roof rafters. From what I know, it’s not a clever idea because it traps moisture and stops the wood from breathing. Plus, it’s nowhere near as effective as using rockwool or fibreglass insulation.
